Its time to fire Strong

I know I am in the minority here but I don't see it as that big a deal. Especially in the long term.

The contract negotiations were simply extended a little bit. The press very prematurely reported it as a done deal when it was not. There may well have been some bungling but that is over now.

Long term the only thing that matters is what happens on the field.

PS. I will stand corrected if necessary about the "little bit of bungling" part.

From a wins and losses standpoint, Strong’s first two seasons at Texas are, once again, historically bad. When you throw in the manner in which he’s lost ball games in blowout fashion, there are plenty of reasons to dump the head guy. The blowout losses in 2015 alone including a shutout defeat to Iowa State, a team that Westlake High School could manage a field goal against, is reason enough to fire the guy and reason enough to pull out all of the stops to land Cumbie, but I digress. However, what makes this even more frustrating is that Strong was warned by the former AD (and this publication) that bringing in Shawn Watson initially would result in offensive disaster. And the disaster of 2015 was certainly offensive, netting Watson a demotion after the first game of the season and an embarrassing scarlet letter of a lost spring and August for a team and an offense that can’t afford to waste time in a rebuilding period.

JB, if that article is correct then we should all be pissed at what happened. If you're in charge and you want Strong gone, fire him because doing what they did (according to that article) is way worse for him and Texas football.

That article is long on opinion and short on facts.
Indeed, but we've got a board full of people speculating on "BMDs sabotaging Strong's efforts" so I thought it was appropriate to share. I never said that I agreed with it nor did I claim it contained factual information.

I click on this thread from time to time to see if anybody has uncovered who actually killed John F. Kennedy b/c it seems this thread appeals to conspiracy theorists and backroom dealing types.  You can't win without talent and best players on the team this past season were young players CS recruited.  You have to allow the man time to bring in "his" players.  I think you will like how the team looks when that is allowed to happen.

Well Strong has one more year which I favored. Then the excuses are geting very thin .Michigan and Houston had very good years with first year coaches. This year IMO will make or break Strong.

I'm afraid if the Notre Dame game does not go well a new thread will go all season.
Probably so. I just don't see the point in keeping this thread active when we know that nothing is going to happen for at least 10-12 months. And that's only if CS doesn't get the ship on the right path. Just seems like an area for people to bring their negative energy and/or off topic posts.
