The so-called BMDs out there should simply stay within the borders of our great state, back the wheel barrel up with a lot of loot and take it to Waco. I think the Saban disaster could have been averted with a little more patience. We know Saban's remarks that he never considered Texas is outright BS. He let that contract Bama offered get mold B4 signing, yet he never considered Texas. OB and Chipster are also culpable in the inability to lure St. Nick. But it's really a blessing in disguise. Head down the road just a bit and offer Art Briles the opportunity of his lifetime. He's already a Texas high school legend and has rebuilt programs at Houston and Baylor. The chance to take over his home state's flagship school and lead them back to prominence should be most enticing. Briles has enough sense to see RG3 can play QB and he can take a 3* and make them a 5*, not the other way around like the last guy in charge could do. Stop fiddle farting around and make the offer. It'll be an absolute blessing to our great school. FWIW

Im down..Art would kill it here...his qb evaluations alone are worth it..his offense with UT talent and a good dc would be unstoppable in the big12..we need to get over these pipe dreams and make AB say no!

I agree, Texas should stay within the borders when they can, and certainly Briles would do what he has always done, WIN. He would also have the upperhand with HS coaches in Texas since he was and still is one of them. Briles is the best choice out there. He has been successful at both the high school and college level, there is no doubt he could win and win big at Texas.

Love Art Briles and what he's done at Baylor. Just don't see him leaving a program HE built. He's a relatively simple, religious guy. I doubt he needs or craves the UT limelight.

I think Briles would crawl to Austin for the right offer. It must be done carefully as you cant have him using any notion he "turned down" Texas on the recruiting trail

Not to step on any toes or bring any doubts, but I am not too sure about the program at Baylor. Some of the athletes are a little questionable, and if he were to stay is it outrageous to think of possible investigations? Might just be me... Anyways I do not believe we will go after either Briles or Gundy since they are within the conference.

Now it is getting interesting ... and it just got real...

Art Briles is in the crosshairs of the Redskins as we speak. RG3 is waiting for his coach to come to Washington and save him and the franchise. Shanahan may be fired for cause (they are looking into that) so the 'skins can save that 7M and put it towards Briles' salary (plus a mil or so more, I am sure). That's serious money.

Speaking about money - Art just got a sweet contract extension for 4M/yr and has a 5M buyout. He is not broke. He does not have failed real estate ventures. He does, however, have a new stadium being built due to his success - as well as his starting qb returning next year. An explosive spread offense in place to make another run next year does not hurt.

Does UT have the money and program to lure a white-hot coach to Austin over the 'skins? Why would Art go to Austin over the NFL if he were to leave Waco?

He'd be a good hire for UT - but I think it is a pipe dream...

Briles likes to coach his teams as underdogs in every game. Don't believe he could do that at UT. Anyways, doesn't he hate UT?
