...end quote. From you know who. I hate to flame the board wars, but couldn't resist to share this tidbit.

It's not a flame if it's true.

Jesus thinks Chip is wrong. They are on opposite sides of the planet on this.

oh boy I can't wait for these next ten days or so to shake out...things are going to get heated!

Interesting that JS is now putting more stock in the Mack threat. Apparently, Mack is leaking stuff to Bohls, making demands for more money and no Saban.

BMDs, the key ones, are boiling mad and are contemplating their next move. I still don't think Mack's thing goes anywhere. We're seeing a sad case of self-entitlement. Mack's surrounding support is not what it once was.

We need to get through these next three days. I think we'll see something move on the Mack front before the end of that period, as far as the BMDs are concerned.

Give credit to McPhaul, who placed significance on Mack's tantrum when others weren't thinking much about it.

:mad:I used to respect Mack and think he would fix things. He never did and now he is throwing a fit. It's the weirdest thing seeing a coach act the way he has. I have lost all respect for the man.

Mack should be entitled to his buyout and nothing more

he should also be removed from coaching the Alamo Bowl

this is just ridiculous

I'd caution you to remember that we have no hard evidence of Mack throwing a fit...just innuendo from nameless, faceless insiders with personal agendas.

we have at least three different UT websites with different mods and insiders all having reported on Mack making this very difficult behind the scenes, and trying to control things. Do they all have an agenda? At some point its pretty dang hard to ignore - and now even the statesman is reporting Mack is trying to get more money after already agreeing to a deal.

come on

If the story is true, Mack would seem to be cashing in all his goodwill and future Texas-related future earnings today at a deep discount. If he gets a dime extra from the University, it will end his relationship with the fan base and if Powers tries to keep him around at the agreed upon salary of $500,000/ yr in the position of Special Assistant, it will be at the cost of alumni support to Powers himself. We can just as easily remember Mack for his last five years and the "class" he showed as he left the program as we can for the first twelve years he was here. It's entirely his choice.

I suspect that Mack is trying to get all the money he can at this point because he knows he will be ineffective as a special assistant to the prez, is thus planning on leaving UT forever and taking the ESPN gig. I have no evidence of this, just guessing as it is the only conclusion that makes any sense.

Had he not pursued this course, even after the Friday nite special, and left for ESPN, I think he would have eventually been welcomed back, much like DKR. If what is being reported is true, odds are that bridge is permanently burned. Dumb move, Mack. Nice legacy.

there is some rumor out there Mack may need the money just like Saban does

The "Special Assistant" job has no real responsibilities, so there is little risk of him being ineffective in that position. It's mostly just a ceremonial position that allows him to shake hands and be a figurehead for the program.

In reading a few other posts this morning, I am wondering if Mack is making a money grab or just trying to accelerate the revenue he would get between now and 2020 because negotiations with his successor are requiring Mack be nowhere around the program as a condition for hiring a new coach. Whether mack needs the money or not, I personally am done with worrying about Mack's problems. He collected $20 million over the past 4 years and, in my mind, barely deserved it and he will receive $2.75mil to walk out the door. That alone is enough to satisfy any obligations we may or might have with respect to Mack Brown's problems. We have enough problems he left behind to concern ourselves with the problems he may or may not have created for himself.

Perhaps we should ante-up and purchase a billboard featuring Mack's smiling face, stating:

MBTF Please Leave With Integrity!

Maybe we should put up a billboard with the score and game stats from the BYU game, or the second half of the Ole Miss game, or the Okie Lite game, or Baylor, or any of a number of OU games, or a decade of games against K. St., or any of the incredible number of games when the team just came out unprepared, or any of the number of games when Mack was badly out coached, or any of the statements about how Manny was the man for the job, or any or the statements that GDGD was the man for the job, or maybe all last year's de-commits laughing at Mack, or Leonard Fournette asleep in the stands at the Okie Lite game this year because the game (Mack's worst home loss ever) was such a boring game, or all the empty seats in the stadium that signify just how much the fans have disengaged from the program, or four piles of money totally $5.4 mill each with the years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 under them, or maybe a picture of a smiling Kevin Sumlin to remind Mack how he was allowed the program to slide so far its no better than that of the nose-picking farmers.

Take your choice.

Mack, if true, is acting childish but to say he never fixed things here is clearly false. It was time for him to go, but he did turn things around for an entire decade.
