IT: 1A is still in play, CB is wrong...

Sorry, but people don't just turn into Darth Vader over night. Mack Brown didn't go all petty, vindictive jerk because he felt slighted, those are character traits developed over time. Looking back, I'm seeing him through non-rose-colored lenses. The concept of integrity has probably always been slippery, he just lost any reason for keeping up pretenses, so now we're getting a clearer picture.

Fair question.
That's a pretty, well, make that incredibly bold move as far as the football world's eyes go. Can you see this on ESPN?

You try not to get into a national piss fight. Cause no matter what, you WILL get piss all over you.
Exactly. This season is lost, why make yourselves appear to be sinking to his level by refusing to let the guy coach what is potentially the last game of his career?

Christmas night, my mom was being defensive of MB, I sat her on the couch and let her read pertinent threads from here, OB, IT, etc. Her response was, 'Oh wow. Oh my goodness. How could he? Whaaa? Why in the world...?' and then , 'What a $#@!!'
Same here. My mom who liked Mack Brown sternly said "What is WRONG with that man?" "Does he have nowhere else to go?"

There's two possibilities:
1) Negotiations did in fact go on with Saban while Mack was still under contract and rumors were deliberately leaked to gossip websites in order to force the resignation of Mack Brown. If that's true then someone engaged in contract interference and Mack is completely entitled to being compensated for the damage. That was pure low class by Saban and who ever "represented" Texas.

2) Nobody interfered with Mack's contract and all this malarky about Saban was a bunch of nonsense.

If there's one thing I hope Texas doesn't do it's pay $50mil to be humiliated by an unspectacular 5 year stint with Saban. You want Texas to be a laughing stock x10, that'll do it.

In any case, Mack Brown has shown nothing but class his entire time at Texas.
Your joking right?

"People don't just turn into Darth Vader over night." So in your mind that means he's run a successful act for 40 years, fooling thousands of players into loving him and thousands of coaches into respecting him. But the clear picture just came into focus in the last month? The truth finally exposed by gossip sites?

C'mon man.

ESPN is now running with the story that Mack now wants more money not to coach. ESPN's reporting has been filled with nostalgia, until now. This story was not at all sympathetic.

Good bye, Mack

Hook 'em, Horns!

Was this on espn news? I am watching the bowl game and I didn't see it

Think about it....would Saban , Fisher, or Meyers have people spying on OB or IT . That should have been a tip of a very insecure coach.

Uh no, but MBTF does.

1.) Any University state or otherwise in this great state of Texas can legally contact outside coaches not coaching at their respective institution. They can further legally assuage them, legally buy them manicures and pedicures, or legally buy them Monte Alban flaming worm shots.

Fact.

2.) Mack Brown was 'nicely' fired. Parade, or Pine Box buddy.

Choose your poison, Mack.

I won't even comment on your hope that "Texas doesn't buy Saban at $50 MM for unspectacular laughing stock" drivel.

Mack, if true, is acting childish but to say he never fixed things here is clearly false. It was time for him to go, but he did turn things around for an entire decade.
He's lost 3 of 4 to Baylor, ou and OSU. Spare me the gloating over victories over Wyoming and Louisiana Monroe.
