Is Gus the next Texas coach?

Malzahn has won everywhere he's been. And has been great on offense everywhere he has been. We could definitely do much worse. He's not on the same level as Saban or Meyer, but if we didn't land one of those guys Gus would definitely be high on my list.

His wife is nuts... RD
If he come to Texas let's hope his wife isn't coaching the team. When we gave women the vote we lost controll. :D My friends y'all have a great week

Are you fu@king crazy? Trade in Sally Brown for ... Here's The Bizarre Kristi Malzahn Interview Somebody's Trying To Sweep Off The Internet
Google "Kristi Malzhan cringeworthy"

On Lou Holtz:

"I kept saying he has a lisp or something, there's something going on with his mouth. I can't understand what he's saying, and Gus was like 'shut up.' "

On Cam Newton:

"He is cute. I love him, but don't tell Gus."

On college kids:

"If you've worked with kids, if you've worked with 18- to 22-year-old individuals, most of the time they's not the most intelligent people that are out there anyway."

Should I go on?
Embarrassing, sure, but would you rather have Mack Brown consulting with Sally on the offensive game plan?

I think malzahn is a much more realistic hire than Saban.
Totally agree.

If our new coach is badass, and I think Malzahn is pretty badass, I don't really care if he's married to Yoko Ono.

You have it wrong. The Auburn Champs lost 8 starters on offense and about 6 on defense, including their All-American DT and another ALL SEC player. The next year with Gus still as OC but with a new cast, Auburn went 8-5. Then Gus left, and Auburn fell to 3-9.
The Malzahn Effect.
Agree. It's very compelling just how good teams are with Malzahn as the OC or HC. People forget we looked at Nick Marshall......wait for it......as a safety last offseason. Hard to blame him for looking at Auburn and other schools that would give him a legitimate shot at QB.

I'd be very happy with Malzahn here, but don't get the impression it's very realistic. I've felt for some time that programs that bring in strong, offensive minded coaches turn things around more quickly. Examples are Malzahn, Meyer, Briles. While programs that go with a defensive minded approach either take longer such as Muschamp at Florida. Other examples can refute my observations such as Strong at Louisville being a defensive guy etc., but Malzahn is doing it amongst the big boys in the SEC.

Malzahn seems like a coach that we could get a lot easier then Saban or Meyer and I think will also do really good at UT and will have our offense putting up pretty good numbers. He has done really good with Cam and now Marshall so why wouldn't he be a first tier pick when we have a guy like Heard coming in.

This is your opinion and I respect it. I'm playing devil's advocate (I think Gus is great) I'm just stating that there are more variables in play than just Gus. We all know the QB position is important. I was simply sparking a conversation about what ppl thought of recent QB success at Auburn. We're talking about a Heisman trophy winner and a very good dual-threat guy in Marshall.

Nope!!!!

Now I'm not saying he won't be considered down the road if other plans fall through.

But he is not anywhere on the current decision makers radar.

Not that I have anything against Malzahn, but this post was made ON BON. Not BY BON. It's some guy who just joined in August. His other post is bashing BON'ers for being bad fans. Smells like Bellmont spin to me, although I looked him up on Google and he doesn't seem to have any direct correlation to Bellmont that I can find.

Malzahn would run the offense that Texas won a BCS title with, a spread look that runs the ball all over you. Texas happens to have 2 QB's, 1 on the roster and 1 coming that fit that scheme to a f##king "T".

It's why I would take him over Saban, as he's also younger and would be here for the next 10-15 years.

The person who tried to 'sweep that video' off the internet was the Bama fan who edited it and put on the internet. He felt very bad about what happened as a result because he thought all he was doing is goofing around and somehow making fun of Auburn. That video may have cost Malzahn the North Carolina job (reports were he was the leading candidate) and the Kansas job (he definitely was the leading candidate). North Carolina is doing OK with Larry Fedora, but, and many an Irish fan can say we knew it would be so, Weis is a giant flop in Kansas. KU badly needed Malzahn.
Malzahn's wife was back in Arkansas as the guest of honor speaker at the church she and Gus attended for years, before he went to Tulsa as OC. It was a women's event, and she was expected to entertain them in a way that makes sense to women in church groups. That means telling corny jokes and making fun of husbands and acting the over the top wife. She was trying to be funny to an audience that had known her for many years and knew what she was doing.

The Bama fan somehow saw the whole taped event and edited to make it look the worst possible, and sent in flying around the internet. He later apologized publicly for doing it, because of the harm he caused and because he knew he was being deceptive.

There is an internet article from when Malzahn was still Auburn OC called 'The Malzahn Effect' (I think). It shows how every HC Malzahn had been OD for was worse in Ws both before and after Malzahn was his OC. Add that to what Malzahn did in the Sunbelt and then to the unbelievable one year turn around at Auburn, and I think only an idiot AD or hiring committee would refuse to have Mlazahn near the top of any short list.
I did not know that. Thanks for sharing.

If you have heard the Malzahn/Texas rumors.....they are true. Some of the biggest Texas boosters want him. Big $ to be thrown around.

Maybe some truth? Might want to make some calls mcphaul...

I can't believe that BON would out scoop McPhaul, don't think it's nothing but another smoke screen.

Well said. Agree 100%.

Oh man. If Tuxedo Yoda really tweeted that then you can bet everything you own it's anyone other than Malzahn. That dude has a 100% failure rate on his info. and predictions. At least everything I've ever seen from him has been flat wrong.

Understand one thing - there is NO head coach search committee as of this date. And, as of this date, UT change makers are ALL IN on Nick Saban. The plan "B" candidates aren't even in the same area code. And Gus Malzahn is in the plan "B".
