So it looks like more and more people are getting on board with Malzahn as a potential candidate for Texas' next HC.

I would prefer Malzahn at this point because of his age and his offense but wonder if any of you would see an Auburn victory as a bit of a changing of the guard, that is, that maybe Saban's run was coming to an end anyway and the newer breed with these complex and fast offenses are more suited for long term success?

The game has yet to be played of course but just throwing this out there. I'm probably more excited to watch this game than any other non-Texas game in recent memory due to the potential implications.

Your thoughts?

Auburn offense is to one dimensional for alabama IMO...They have a good team, but Alabama is built to stop the run...As much as i would like for this to happen, i think Bama runs away on this one with a 13+ pt win...

I could see it going either way but wouldn't be surprised if what you say turns out to be the case. The thing is, having Auburn even close would be a pretty nice accomplishment considering the talent disparity and where Auburn has come in such a short period under Malzahn.

This is McCarron's shot to really impress the Heisman voters and potentially vault to being the frontrunner. I think Bama is too much for Auburn on Friday but Malzahn deserves all the accolades that come his way. Dude is a good football coach.

I agree with the fact that Auburn is one dimensional and should be stopped by Saban, but Malzahn is a master at using a variety of formations and movements to get his guys in advantages in the run game. It's not going to be as easy to slow them down as many think. I think Alabama wins, but I think it will be closer than most think. Marshall has gotten much more comfortable in the offense as the season has progressed and they have really taken off as he's gone.

I can't imagine what Malzahn would be able to do with guys like Swoopes and Heard if he came here. It'd be like football porn.

I think the Iron Bowl is going to be an exciting game, made even better by being an extended look at two guys we could have here soon.

Saban, the emperor, the iron fisted ruler, constructor of the greatest war machine in CFB history

Malzahn, the up and comer, a guy who spun gold out of straw, perhaps the destructor of the greatest war machine in CFB history

Another side bar - Malzahn did this with a JUCO transfer (Nick Marshall) and would end up in a similar situation here talent wise next season.

Couple of observations:

Auburn's OL will be the best Bama has faced all year. That group has been overlooked and has talent. Can they establish enough for manageable third downs.

Saban wil make sure they key the QB to minimize Marshall's legs. And the Bama LB'ers will control short passing lanes and sniff out/control most mis-direction.

Auburn can keep it close IF their defense slows the Bama run game and creates a couple turnovers. But it's still a big talent difference on defense IMO.

Prediction- McCarron plays well enough to secure the Heisman; Tide wins 31-20.

I dont know how much Bama losing would really help Texas. I dont think it could hurt. Either way Saban is going to be asked about Texas, but Im not sure he cares at this point. He tosses that stuff aside like a rag doll without much care

Im not opposed to Malzahn but outside one website and some obscure twitter account I'm not sure he's even on the list.

Texas is all in on Saban. JS updates today have the biggest of players very confident. The same people who picked the AD think Saban is coming as of right now....so confident there isnt even a clear #2 after Saban. (not sure I buy this but after Saban I think the list is wide open with many possibilities) His sources think there may already be some sort of agreement in place in principal to be this extremely confident. Its the only thing that makes sense

Solid assessment. Question is can scheme beat talent, and can Malzahn find a way to pick on Landon Collins?

Malzahn may be seeing the Aggie film vs Bama in his sleep by now :-)

Gotta be careful though- Marshall is no Manziel throwing, but if anyone can find a scheme mis-match, it's Malzahn. And he knows Bama's tendencies.

I think every AD in the country and their "biggest players" are all in on Saban. Considering the amounts of conflicting accounts by "insiders" I doubt anyone knows who the primary target is if we even have a job opening. One step at a time.

Malzahn won one game against Saban and that was with Cam. Malzahn doesn't know their tendencies. If you think malzahn is better at offense schemes then Saban and Smart are with defensive schemes then I'm not sure you watch football.

I've got to admit you're consistent and not easily swayed. You probably drive the speed limit too. ?

Well, believe it or not, I do watch some football.

And Malzahn did beat Saban and Smart. Does that make him better at his O schemes thatn their D? Well it did in 2010.

So what that it was with Cam? If you recall, Saban took away his running as a threat that day; they adapted by late in the half and

had the Tide D off balance the entire 2nd half.

And IMO that Auburn team overall was over-matched in talent but still won. Just saying Gus has coached and won on this huge stage against a very well-coached team with better personnel and depth. So yep, I'd say he has a decent understanding of this game's dynamics with one major skin on the wall.

kinda hard to compare when Malzahn is playing with inferior talent. As much credit as Saban deserves with his oversigning and all around monster classes he brings in every year it's not like we really know how they'd fair with similar talent.

I get you think all insiders are a joke but no..not all schools are in on saban. And the people at UT who are very confident right now are the same players who picked the AD. We are talking bob Rowling level. I'm sure there is BS out there but these guys didnt get where they are by being idiots just hoping on a prayer. They have reasons to be confident. Doesn't make it a lock but it's not the BS you believe either

Name one school that wouldnt want Saban as their head coach if given the chance. I think insiders have absolutely nothing to lose by Saban is coming to Austin. I take insiders a little more serious when it comes to recruits. But when it comes to coaches its a lot different. If there was anything going on it would be coming from both school's insiders and not just our own. Alabama fans would be in a meltdown situation and there would be a TREMENDOUS amount of talk leading the national media outlets to pick the story up and do more research. The fact that this story is no where but UT forums is a red flag. Insiders were wrong on the AD pick and will more than likely be wrong in the pick for the next coach. I just require some evidence to back up what they say and so far they've been wrong. They couldnt get the AD right and now we will wait and see if Mack retires on the 2nd like they've all said.

For the love of Longhorns give it a rest already orangeman....I don't ever post anything because I don't know anything and I love reading others thoughts but geez, we get it you don't think Saban is coming and apparently your smarter than the rest of us and you want "Proof" to everything anybody says!
