I'll just leave this here . . .

That's why if I ever get back to Austin, I would live in either Lago Vista, Dripping Springs, Buda, Bastrop, or Elgin.  Close enough to get to Austin whenever I want, but just outside the traffic and hippies. :)

Drippings Springs, Buda, Bastrop have been lost to development. They are no longer the small towns they once were.

Lago Vista is still rather small although it too is beginning to develop. But it still looks like a typical hill country town for now. Every town should wish it had the scenery this town has.

Doc, Brenham? Seriously? Isn't that like little saigon these days? :) Or is that Navasota I'm thinking of?

Easily agree on Bulverde though. You could add a hundred other hill country towns too.

I was just kidding about Ft Worth. Very nice place. Yes, it has awkward, backasswards traffic. There are some beautiful neighborhoods over there and nice folks.

Plus, I'm pretty sure Fort Worth still claims the Lake Worth Monster. What other city has that, huh? lol

The day comes soon when you cannot tell when you're out of FW and into Denton. This is already the case on the other I-35, which is completely developed from Dallas to Denton now.

Houston 429

That's a difference of 239. Houston is better and it's not even close.

Brenham and Navasota - little Saigon?  Hardly.  Where in the world did you dream that up?  Actually, I don't live in Brenham, per se, but about 10 miles outside of it.  In God's country.

Let's put it this way, I'll bet anyone who lives in Dallas/Ft Worth, Houston or San Antonio area a cold beer that they come to Austin more than I go to those cities. Any takers? ;)
Not a fair bet.  UT resides in Austin.  If it resided in Houston, I would take that bet all day.

But Austin, itself, is still weird, full of west coast commies and don't even talk about the UT drama dept.

Barton Springs and Deep Eddy are too damned cold to swim in and Hamilton's pool is not in Austin.  And, yes, there are parts of Austin that are way worse than LA.  Even worse than Honolulu.  Ever been on Hwy. 35 during rush hour?  Or anywhere near DKR-Memorial during game day?

Yes I have been on I35, Mopac and 360 in rush hour, I do live in Austin after all. I've been going to game now for 30+ years so yes, I have been by the stadium a time or two but I plan ahead, know which routes to take and where to park to get a quick exit.

I will respectfully disagree that it's worse than LA since I have been on the highways there several times. I can't say for sure about Honolulu since I've only been there once, for a short stay, and traffic wasn't that bad at all but then I didn't drive during rush hour.

We gave up our season football tickets several years ago. The traffic was already traumatic. If you aren't cussing the other drivers, you just aren't paying attention to them.
