Stays at Bama, will people be upset no matter who the new coach is or will they rally around the new coach.

Also, assuming Saban, Meyer and Malzhan all spurn Texas, who would be a viable option for everyone to rally around?

I'll move along. But I sure hope he comes....it would be great to rub into the faces of all of these toothless hillbillies here in SEC country.

It'll hurt for a while. But whoever they bring on board I'll get behind 100%. I planned to give my full support to Mack had he returned in 2014. I don't have to agree with and or like the leader of our football program. But it's sure a lot easier to be happy when they win. FWIW

i will and im still not sold on Saban and wont be untill i see a pc..he flips so much..i trust in McPhaul but im not holding out for NS ..there are plenty of other coaches i would take over MB. in the end i think it will be someone other than NS and im fine with that..i just hope UT doesnt end up looking like a bigger fool then they already do atm.

Don't like Dantonio. He is a great coach but not a good cultural fit for Texas. Better fit in the BIG or even PAC

If Saban changes his mind, and at this point it would be Saban changing his mind, here are the names to watch out for IMO:

Urban Meyer - Might not want to leave a job nearby where he grew up, but he was catching heat with an undefeated team possibly not playing in the title game. Could be the best fit considering the offense and how Texas is a spread state, but getting him away from OSU might be slim to none.

John Harbaugh - His name has been linked to jobs like USC and Michigan in addition to Texas. Might be a stronger candidate than most think. Might be someone I'd want OVER Saban if I knew I could have either.

Mike Tomlin - Rumors have been out there that he has been sniffing around. But why would he leave the Steeler job?

James Franklin - People in SEC land think he's going to be a HUGE get when he finally gets scooped up by a big program. Would probably need a lot of dominos to turn us down first. He's been a guy that I've been high on for a while.

Mark Dantonio - Has built Michigan State up and is a tough, hard nosed coach. His heart problems previously worry me.

Les Miles - Don't hate me, but I would take a look at him. Hes a very good recruiter and his teams play tough physical football. They don't always win pretty, but they win.

Mike Gundy - Don't know that we would look at another coach from the conference, but you have to like what Gundy has done. Yeah they lost to OU, but his body of work speaks for itself.

I can live without Saban.

I cannot live with Mack Brown anymore.

I want a hungry, organized coach who can recruit and wants to win.

I think there will be Texas people that will be left with a bitter pill to swallow and it will be worse bc of a few people in the media, works, twitter, etc that will rub it into Texas fans faces.

I think as long as the next coach is competent and perceived to be a good coach, we will all be behind him.

Jimbo is not a viable option anymore until after January 6. Does Texas wait that long. I would see him taking the position at Texas but not until he can coach in the Natl Championship game.

I just report what I hear. A lot of people feel very confident on Nick.

But we are talking Nick Saban. Something could change in a second.

The more time goes by and Nick says nothing... The better. If we get through today and Nick dosent talk to the media, I think we are good

And I don't expect to hear anything with him out recruiting in Houston.

I've heard Jimbo Is option 2.
I've been a HUGE Fisher guy. I think he's the "next" Saban.

And if Saban says no, I think we wait regardless. The people who we would be looking at after Saban are all pretty much occupied through the end of the month. The NFL season lasts through the 29th so we wouldn't be able to look at an NFL guy until then. So that's only about a week difference between that and the national title game.

I still think the timing of Mack stepping down announcement means it's Saban. If Saban weren't going to be the guy why pull the plug on Mack right now? You could easily wait until after the bowl game and do it then.
