I know everyone should be scared...

Problem with a certainly fantastic hire in Wickline is making him OC (assuming that happens) takes away a lot of the ability he has to just look over the OL, which requires a lot of dedication in its own right. Aside from that, he's never called plays before. Why risk that? It's unnecessary. But...still better than Watson. Not that that is saying much.
Wickline has been an OC before, just has not been in a very long time, but I get what you mean. Coaches interact more with one another on play call than most think, so I am sure he has an idea with what he would like to do...I tend to believe if we let Major do it...

Welcome to Horn Sports Sean, and great opening post.

I've said since before Wick was hired that he was the key hire I would get excited about.

Texas is better and we will show this condition starting end of august. HOOK'EM

but for some reason, I couldn't care any less about the timing. Maybe I'm so enamored with what's going on up from on both sides of the ball that I have afforded a level of faith to Charlie Strong. I have a friend of mine call me that was a former All American OL at Oklahoma State send me a text and say, "Damn, I'm pissed but Texas got a lot better. Regardless of who else they hire, Wick was the best hire CS made."
A new level of accountability along with a self policing policy that will be part of what CS is going to employ at Texas, will pay huge dividends for Texas. I remember Vince Young, when asked what his hardest job in 2005 was, said, "Keeping Romance Taylor in line." Remember Shawshank Redemption when Red was out on parole and living in the halfway house and he finally came to the conclusion that he couldn't stay? He said, "There's a harsh truth to face." I think there will be more than a couple of players this spring and maybe even into the fall that will figure out how harsh that truth is. They will have to decide, not only how much they love football, but how good they want to be.

I still don't believe most people understand what the change in voice, change in expectation and change in methods of accountability will mean to this team. And that is no shot at Mack Brown. It is part of the reality of life and especially in CFB where just about coach in the country will have a max shelf life of 10 years.

The way the team performs will all come down to the QB but I think the defense can be one of the better in the Big 12. While Wickline is used to working with taller lineman, the guys that are on campus are good and some of them are his desired size. While I'm keeping one eye on the play-calling and OC position, I still think CS put together a really solid staff and a knock out group of recruiters. Watch out for the 2015 and 2016 classes. Texas should hit a homerun in both.
Whats up Sean! Always dropping the great knowledge! #TheAdamsTheory

Hello Sean!!! I read your words with the sound of your voice in my head!! Darn good to hear your voice and wisdom again. Long-time listener.

Nailed it Sean I've never been more excited for the spring game then I am right now. Coach Strong is a no b.s. Type of coach which is exactly what was needed. I love Mack but at the end he got away from doing what got him here recruiting.

Sean, great to see you on this board. I hate to see a lame offense in today's game so hope Watson either miraculously learns to open it up or moves to a NFL Opportunity. Strong's culture will do a lot. In today's game, having an offense matters. The two teams in the National Championship game both could make defenses struggle. Having a great defense is essential, but so is having an offense that can do what those two teams did.

Everytime you guys panic, come back and read what he said. Its going to be just fine.

Whoooaaaa!!!

Sean Adams in da house!

Great perspective. I agree. We cant begin to fathom what the change in culture means at this point.

It does crack me up that many of you are so concerned about not getting the big name splashes like Harsin & Diaz. I would say those big names (at the time of hire) are a major contributor to giving Strong an opportunity to come here.

Sean I'm glad your here, but let's drop all the logic and optimism dude! This is a UT message board man!!!

Things to look forward to:

Change in Attitude

Change in Physical Conditioning

Spring Practice

Summer Practice

Football Season

I for one would have liked a "splash/home run" hire for an OC. How do we know we didn't get one...it's less than 4 days in...I believe w/ the assistants on this staff and their experiences that we may craft an offense w/ it's own unique identity and they have 8 months to implement it.

what's driving people nuts is that bellmont has turned into the kremlin. we all thought that was what was needed and now we are all paying for it because the old insiders that used to give information no longer know a thing. The whole paysite community is in trouble, what is there to pay for? It is still what we needed but damn I wish I knew what was going on over there...

There is no reason to be scared..WHY...because we are not part of the decision making process, we would like to think we have some influence, but in reality we dont, WE ARE THE FAN BASE....we will not be calling the plays and deciding who plays where, all the wishing and hoping isnt going to change that fact, the sooner you can come to grips with that fact the sooner one can enjoy the product on the field

The team will take on the personality of the Coaches in charge..the best that we can do as fans is to become such rabid supporters that the team plays that much harder at home and teams that come to DKR Memorial will be in fear and can only hope to leave with with their testicles after we are done crushing them...
