but for some reason, I couldn't care any less about the timing. Maybe I'm so enamored with what's going on up from on both sides of the ball that I have afforded a level of faith to Charlie Strong. I have a friend of mine call me that was a former All American OL at Oklahoma State send me a text and say, "Damn, I'm pissed but Texas got a lot better. Regardless of who else they hire, Wick was the best hire CS made."

A new level of accountability along with a self policing policy that will be part of what CS is going to employ at Texas, will pay huge dividends for Texas. I remember Vince Young, when asked what his hardest job in 2005 was, said, "Keeping Romance Taylor in line." Remember Shawshank Redemption when Red was out on parole and living in the halfway house and he finally came to the conclusion that he couldn't stay? He said, "There's a harsh truth to face." I think there will be more than a couple of players this spring and maybe even into the fall that will figure out how harsh that truth is. They will have to decide, not only how much they love football, but how good they want to be.

I still don't believe most people understand what the change in voice, change in expectation and change in methods of accountability will mean to this team. And that is no shot at Mack Brown. It is part of the reality of life and especially in CFB where just about coach in the country will have a max shelf life of 10 years.

The way the team performs will all come down to the QB but I think the defense can be one of the better in the Big 12. While Wickline is used to working with taller lineman, the guys that are on campus are good and some of them are his desired size. While I'm keeping one eye on the play-calling and OC position, I still think CS put together a really solid staff and a knock out group of recruiters. Watch out for the 2015 and 2016 classes. Texas should hit a homerun in both.

Great stuff Sean....

I wonder how much attrition the team will have after the spring semester?

Thinking that a good handful will not want to make the physical and mental change that it will take to play for Coach Strong

Sean, I agree.

Under the leadership of Royal, Texas was never out of the game because our defense was so good. If you remember Carl Reese's quote after the Texas v Nebraska game, he thought if we could score 20, we could win. That's what I'm talking about!

Good times are ahead. now is not the time to be worried. Im beyond excited

OB saying a WR coach has been hired. Trying to confirm the name.

There have been many meltdowns over the past 2 weeks but I have a feeling tomorrow will bring the biggest one since the banquet.

Good to see you Sean! Once again, thank you for your perspective.

Welcome Sean!

Great write up. I really agree with pretty much everything. This is a new, and needed, culture change.

Really looking forward on seeing how the young men respond.

Problem with a certainly fantastic hire in Wickline is making him OC (assuming that happens) takes away a lot of the ability he has to just look over the OL, which requires a lot of dedication in its own right. Aside from that, he's never called plays before. Why risk that? It's unnecessary. But...still better than Watson. Not that that is saying much.
