HS FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK!

[Worster1]

Wow, CP with an impressive drive.

Ennis (with the disgusting aggy war hymn fight song)  17

Cedar Park (with some benign fight song)                    14

whoa, dude, CP has exploded with 21 straight points to take the lead at 21-17.  Early on it looked like Ennis would run away with this thing...

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but it appears to me that the officials really screwed Ennis a couple of times when it would make a difference, and the lack of a call on the punt at the end of the half didn't come close to making it up.

Just saying.

[Coal Harbour]

The officiating in all of the title games to this point has been average at best, but the Ennis vs. Cedar Park crew has been awful and I don't care who wins.

The awarding of first down to CP after the Ennis stop on 4th down baffled me.  The ball was not even touching the stick.  Looked to be at least a couple inches short.

I agree - I thought the refs were suddenly blinded.

[Worster1]

Teams traded 2 turnovers and suddenly Ennis converts one to a TD...

UIL needs to implement instant replay on championship weekend.  It's obvious from the moans and groans of the fans that they are seeing the blown calls on the big screen.

[Worster1]

CP scores and then Ennis answers on 1 play and it is now:

Ennis 31

CP     28

Final scores might end in the 50's or higher...

[Sirhornsalot]

Worster, have you heard the name James Lockhart mentioned in this game at all?

[Sirhornsalot]

Missed FG by Cedar Park gives new life to Ennis.

1:40 left in the game. Ennis ball at their own 20.

[Sirhornsalot]

Ennis pulls out the old Hook and Ladder and survives again. Next play they score on a pass play.

Ennis ahead, 38-35 with 21 seconds left

[Sirhornsalot]

Please stop the damned war hymn

[Sirhornsalot]

Ennis intercepts to end the game.

Congratulations to the Ennis Lions, 2014 Class 5A Div. 2 State Champions!

Amazing ending to a football game.  What a day of football and football recruiting this has been.

I really haven't done much today. Gave the crews a half a day off for a long weekend. They need to shop. lol

But I feel exhausted after all these games today and the MJ/DM news.

[dillohorn]

The measure on the "first down" was so obvious. That had to be intentional. I hate to think the ref would make a call like that. That will haunt him for a long time.

Aledo is up on Temple 35-17 w/ 7:35 left 3Q.
