There has been a lot of chatter about the WVU offense and whether or not the Texas defense can be a neutralizer in the big-time matchup on Saturday night in Austin. Looking at the back and forth on twitter, fans from each side think they know how it is going to go down. I wish I were the master prognosticator but this one is really tough to predict. Geno Smith will get his yards in the air, but HOW MANY yards will Texas let him throw for? 300? 400? 500? What is the capper on a guy like this? What is the # of yards Geno Smith can throw for and we still feel confident that we can win with?

I agree with the peanut gallery that the West Virginia defense hasn't seen a defense like Texas yet. We have had our issues with tackling and big plays but we also have a better defense than Baylor, James Madison, Marshall and Maryland. Most notably we have a headhunter named Kenny Vacarro. Geno Smith will have a nice day but it will not be a career day against the burnt orange. How many points they score is purely speculative at this point but my guess is somewhere in the low 40's.

Now for the Longhorn offense. David Ash is highly capable of throwing for at least 300 yards against this West Virginia defense. He has two consecutive 300+ yard games and the West Virginia defense is 106th out of 120 teams in total defense (FYI - Texas ranks 63rd). This means Texas WILL move the ball on WVU, and if the Longhorns run the ball well, they can eat up some significant clock time. This, in my opinion will be the key to the game. Gobbling time will play immensely in the Longhorns' favor, and it will keep the score lower than West Virginia is used to. Throw in a decent blitz package that we know Manny is crafting and I think the recipe for success is almost ripe.

This will be a great game - much like last weekend's game against Oklahoma State, but the Longhorns come out of this with a win to improve to 5-0.
