Man, the hit batter killed us. Great run by the Horns this season. By all means it was an incredibly successful season. #Hookem

FWIW, Garrido told reporters that he wanted to talk to Patterson about an extension and added that he definitely wants to come back.

Thanks Matt. Tough, tough way to end the season, but it reminds me of a Hunter S. Thompson quote, “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

That's what this season was. Appreciate all the hard work you put into the coverage.

Great stuff. Sad way to end the season, but I love the character and the fact that it took an infield single on a slow roller with two down in the bottom of the tenth against our closer, hit to one of our best fielders, to finally take us out.

That was one heck of a season and one heck of a game. I loved watching that team.

In regards to Augie's future, put me in the group that thinks we will do best with him back as HC next year. These guys fought hard for him and I just don't see a reason for him to not be able to come back. If he does, let's make Skip the highest paid assistant in college ball, if he's not already.

I felt frustrated watching that game last night, but it was a fitting ending in retrospect. Next year should be something special. Who do we root for Monday?

I think Virginia wins in 2.  The Horns clearly took Vandy to the edge and back.

Call it Virginia #1, Vandy 2a, Horns 2b.  That's the way I see it until proven differently on the field.

Hook 'em!

Edit:  Please note that all of these schools take academics seriously.  There is a reason for that.

if you read the story I wrote that DMcP posted a few weeks ago, you'll know I was thinking about 1967 as well as the Horns who were at Omaha Saturday. two outs and nobody on, and a freaking dribbler is the undoing. hit the damn ball hard so we can make a play!
