I am surprised by the spread so big. They beat a not good LSU team. The Ole Miss game is really the only one that reflects any domination. I think there is some definite SEC bias reflected in the betting line. They are a decent team, but all the love they are getting does perplex. I'm hoping that this shakes out just like all the early season South Carolina love for no reason other than conference affiliation.
If we had a serviceable QB I truly would expect to win this game. As it is, we shall indeed see
You serious ? Their defense held Bama ( #1 in CFB ) to 14 pts. MSU to 17, and Mizzou to 21. Shut out LSU and Ole Miss.
On paper....We will be lucky to score 10 points judging from that.
Offensively they put 32 on UG, 30 on Ole Miss, and 17 on LSU.
The love they are getting isn't solely based on their credentials, but the lack in ours.
Our MO against good to average teams has been to struggle on offense, dominate on defense until we wear down, and lose in the 3rd and 4th qtrs.
28-17 is a realistic prediction for this game.
We should be at least an 11 point dog.
Can we win ? Yes.....If everything falls right and Swoopes plays out of his mind, we can. If Watson plays close to the vest protecting Swoopes, hoping to win with defense; we will lose by 17+.
To win Swoopes will have to beat them with his arm. They will stack the box and shut down our run game.
(We don't need a bunch of over thrown deep passes like we have been getting to put us in 2nd or 3rd and longs.)We don't need bombs by Swoopes, but a consistent short to intermediate passing game that moves the sticks. Mixed in with a little push with our running game will work against the Hogs. One or two deep balls to stretch the field is enough. That will score some points and rest our defense. *** Big point...Our defense MUST either score or set up a score or two for us.
