ALL of you Bad, BAAAD dudes are welcomed with open arms here at Horn Sports. And we mean it. And we APPRECIATE YA! We rely on you guys to chatter about our team and argue passionately about issues!!!!! Key piece - respect. You all already know it or you wouldn't be here. We've been pretty good thus far and I know it will only get better here.
Relationships. Ahhhh, relationships. They are the key to everything going on here. They are the key to life (at least in my opinion). Relationships are more than a paid subscriber (or in our case, a registration) and you better believe that we we value you. I don't care if you pay $10 per month at a site or you pay nothing - EVERY poster at this site matters. If you leave because you get pissed off, or if you give us glowing remarks because you like what we are doing.... We give both equal weight. We can't be successful, the Leviathan cannot be successful, if we do not value one another first!
With that said I wanted to get a few things off my chest about the other UT sites out there. There is too much negativity being disseminated about what people consider "competitors" when it comes to UT message boards. I have seen people call this board pathetic, enlightening, the best UT board out there, horrible, not a chance of "making it...." We do what we do here and nothing more or nothing less. We're not trying to do anything but have fun with friends talking about Texas sports and other cool stuff.
Just for the record... I started this site 2 years ago NOT to make a million bucks, but to have a good place for people to hang out and have fun. That goal is still the same today. There are some really great Longhorn sites out there for everyone to peruse - some of them I visit religiously everyday as well..... My thoughts on those:
Inside Texas - Love the site. Great people. Their Web content editor Justin Wells was the managing editor here at Horn Sports previously. He's a good friend of mine too. Would do anything for my friend if he was ever called out by anyone. And I mean ANYONE.
Orangebloods - Is/Was the king of UT sites. NEVER had a sub there. I respect Chip Brown tremendously because I think he does excellent work. He is the standard most folks in the industry look up to. Don't know Ketch, have nothing against the guy because I have never had a sub at OB.
BON - Wescott Eberts is the hardest working man in the blogosphere. He posts MANY times daily and his stuff is always GREAT. Wescott is awesome but I also like Michael Pelech and guys like Blake Borron. BON has some really good people, make no mistake.
Barking Carnival - Recruitocosm drew me in early. Scipio is one of the best writers (if not THE BEST) out there. If he were at Horn Sports.... Forget about it.......
Longhorn Digest - Kevin Flaherty is one of the kindest, most knowledgeable dudes you will ever know - and I have NEVER met him. You get that from talking to him and interacting with him - and you just know it.
Again - common thread here is good people.
Thanks to all of you guys for being here and we look forward to good times in the future!
My point on this - We ALL love good UT sports talk. Join one site, join all of them, join two, join whichever ones you want and Hook'em!
