Horn Sports Draft Game?

So I've been wanting to do this for a few weeks now and I figured I'd run it by some of you now as SF's thread reminded me. How would people feel about really flaunting those GM Skills? Each year, a site that I'm on has their own "NFL Draft" of sorts. 32-64 posters select a team and draft for them. Here are the guidelines:

Team Selection - Teams are selected on a first come, first serve basis. In the event that a team you really wanted is taken, you can talk to that team's owner about a dual-ownership.

2 Owners (Max) Per Team - You can either draft for your team alone, or you can bring in a partner to assist in the draft. You (two) will make decisions on draft picks and trades during the time of the draft.

Schedule/Draft Time - Draft Hours: 7am-7pm | Draft Days: Mon-Sat | Allotted Draft Pick Time: 4 Hours | Draft Rounds: 3

Draft Pick - As stated above, you have four hours from the exact time that the previous pick was posted. No editing picks. You can discuss trades with other teams at any time, whether it's your pick or not. But you must have your pick in within four hours. If you don't, your pick will be voided. You don't get the best player on the board, you get nothing.

Trading - Trades are permitted. You can trade players on your roster, current/future draft picks or players you've selected in the draft. It's recommended that you use Private Messages to discuss trades but you can announce that a Pick or Player is available for trade at any time in the Draft Thread. When a trade has been completed, announce it in the Thread. The other owner should like your Post to show that the trade was in fact accepted. If you're found to be lying about the trade, you'll sacrifice your next and/or previous pick.

Winner - The winner will be determined by a vote. All of the HS Posters are allowed to vote but GM's aren't allowed to vote for themselves.

Prize - There doesn't have to be one. But I thought of two things that could possibly entice everyone. A.) A special "GM Mastermind" Tag to replace your Veteran, V.I.P. and etc. Title under your name and above your Rep Power on the boards. Or B.) Maybe we could talk one of the staff members into putting a Horns Sports shirt on the line for the winner.


In the event that people are interested in doing this, I'd be willing to host the Draft thread. I'd make sure everyone knows when it is their turn and update the OP to display the Draft Selections. However, I'm calling the Cowboys now if this happens. Let me know if this is of any interest to you. I figured it would be a fun way to keep us all entertained leading up to Spring Drills and the actual Draft.

Note that the 2nd and 3rd round orders will be slightly different from the 1st Round order, depending on trades. For example, Washington will pick 2nd in the 2nd Round instead of the St. Louis Rams.

Also, bbdude has informed us that HS will be gracious enough to provide a Horn Sports Shirt and Specialty Badge to whomever wins the game.

The idea would be to draft for need. But it's your pick so you do whatever you want with it. If you feel there is a player that could benefit your team more than another player in a position you need, it could make MORE sense to take that player than another player in a needed position. If that makes sense.

Basically, it's all about whoever leaves their team in a better position after the draft. Maybe you bank it all on two huge picks, or maybe you feel this draft isn't your year and you deal some picks and players for picks next year. It's all about trying to make your team better.

I'd like to start it on Tuesday or Wednesday of Next Week. We definitely still need some Owners.

I'm fine with us owning two teams each if that is what it comes too. I just worry about people abusing the game that way.
