I knew they would be tough to beat. But I didn't think we'd give them so much.

I hate to say this, but this reminds me so much of "17-0" it scares me.

I'm not too worried. Time to gel before going on a win streak in February.
Yep, still early and we are sitting at 12-3 (3 losses to teams that will be in the tournament). I'm not going to hit the panic button after this game. There's no excuse for the lack of effort tonight, but this game is no indication of what we are. The team needs to run some sprints after the lack of effort though. The fact that we were out boarded by a much smaller team is all you really need to know, the effort simply wasn't there. Blame needs to go all around, but I'm not going to panic quite yet. We will see what the team is made of on Saturday.

I will say this I think Barnes has gotten away from the strengths of this team.

1-I know our bigs had trouble tonight but we actually got fairly decent looks when we fed the ball inside. I'm not sure why we've gone away from feeding the bigs and pounding the glass. That's our bread and butter. For some reason we've become a perimeter oriented team.

2-I'm also not sure why Barnes has gone cute on the defensive end. Too much zone and soft man to man defense. Barnes needs to take a page out of Aston's book. Use your depth/size as an advantage and play some aggressive man to man defense. When we went on a run last year we did it on the defensive end with Holland and Taylor playing extremely aggressive on the perimeter.

The game  I wish Texas would have pulled out is Stanford. They've really turned their season around and beat a damn good Washington team the other night. That would have been a hell of a resume win. The good news is it looks like Cal and Iowa will make the tournament so Texas has a couple nice wins on the resume.

Barnes said going into halftime that we took more 3-pt shots than OU did and we're supposed to be the inside game team. He was baffled as to why.

I think we just got caught up in playing OU's game and not ours.

We sorta saw this coming, huh

Yep, I think it's a little bit of everyone's fault. Holmes and Holland have become trigger happy. I think the bigs also aren't demanding the ball enough by getting in position. I said this at the beginning of the season, there's no reason Turner or Ridley shouldn't touch the ball down low almost every possession. Heck, Ridley has been atrocious almost all year but teams still have to double him because of his size. If Texas would starting getting the ball inside we would get much better looks on the perimeter.

Barnes said it perfectly after halftime, "We should be an inside out basketball team."

I'd like to see some aggressive moves to the basket by the perimeter guys . . make some opportunities

I think once Taylor gets healthy you will see more of that.

Holland was great earlier in the year at attacking the rim, but that's disappeared over the past couple of weeks. That probably goes hand in hand with not feeding the post though. It's much easier to attack when you have guys helping down low and having to react instead of being in position on the perimeter.

The Big 12 is all about picking up wins and holding home court (granted that didn't happen tonight). Like I said, 5 or 6 losses in the Big 12 will still get you a high seed. Texas has 2 resume wins over Cal and Iowa who will both be tournament teams. Texas doesn't have a bad loss (Stanford, Kentucky and OU will all be tournament teams). If Texas finishes the season 23-8 they will be a 4 or 5 seed. There's no doubt Texas has to start playing better, but the good news about the Big 12 is you can play yourself into a high seed.

utisdabomb – I said this earlier, but, does this not remind you of when we were 17-0 a few years back? When everything seemingly fell apart?

Not really. That team had bad chemistry. Guys that didn't really like playing together.
