Hermann needs to go

CDC isn't going to fire Herman mid season...unless he has someone better signed sealed and in place...Firing Herman with signees still not committed makes no sense from a business stand point and there isn't anyone on staff that is qualified to be in interim HC, nor is there a HC in waiting....

The best thing Horn fans can do is to support the team and let the chips fall where they may, put away the pitchforks and torches, cancel the moving van for now...

In the last two games, we scored a lot of points, but the other teams scored more. UM seems to be the consensus choice here, but the thought here is that he likes Chris Ash and would retain him.

So the idea is that UM could basically keep the same personnel and suddenly start winning? I think the answer is...yes. Beginning with discipline. Herman could do it too, if he would just stop kissing the players and show them tough love instead. There doesn't appear to be any consequence for a player to lose focus and cost us a game. How many have we lost like that? Tom needs to learn how to be a disciplinarian.

Another thought...being a successful defensive coach in the Big Ten or the SEC doesn't  necessarily translate to success with the Big 12 offenses. Maybe we should start looking at successful high school defensive coordinators and employ them as analysts and a DCIW.

Spoke to a well connected friend today. I called him over a week ago. Today, he calls me back. Go figure. Glad he did.

Yes, the BMDs are not only active, but extremely active. There is an obvious #1 choice and that is the primary pursuit. Lining things up. A buyout is no longer an issue. Neither is new salary for new coach, even if its someone like Urban. BMDs feel betrayed by CTH for reasons I've stated here already.

Here's an exchange that I at least tried to write down as I was talking to him.

"Mark, I can't express to you the frustration that is currently being felt with Herman by people who matter in this program, and outside this program. Thing is, CTH does not have CDC in his corner that would normally be the case. CDC by himself would be willing to see this through to the end of the season. CTH could redeem himself in that set up. But there is little faith it can happen. There is talk of doing this before the season is over. We've not done that before but given the times we live in, it could very well happen. Whats more, everybody in those cigar rooms seem to be on the same page."

There is a small grouping of other names that are being talked about, should things not materialize with Urban. He did not give me those names, said it wasn't anything really decided yet anyway. He said for the time being, Urban is the real focus.

CDC is not a happy man these days. CTH has made him look bad and the timing (OU game, Sam alone at the end) just sucked. CDC is responsible for the current deal CTH has and feels some ownership to that issue, . . my friend said that CDC seems receptive to BMDs at this point, likely because of that fact.

At the end of my call with him, I felt like a lot has transpired since the OU game that we haven't been aware of. Our speculation has been confirmed. I didn't think it would be as far as it is, but things are about to get very interesting for Texas fans and this board.

What it's say
TFB was pretty vague, just said BMDs are talking. Thats about it. Post was only three sentences long I think.

IT went much further, talked about BMDs, Urban and possible other names after Urban. There was something about one guy who wasn't named. Consensus by some say its the PSU Franklin guy.

IT said that the President, AD and BOR are all on the same page. Might be a first for Texas...

Urban 2021

Some thoughts from someone who works in athletics at another conference outside the state (no inside info):

CDC gave Herman an ultimatum at the end of last season – win Big 12 in 2020 or you are fired. Technically, we still have a shot to win Big 12, so we can’t fire him yet (thus all the leaks about – next loss and he is gone; he has to win out or he’s gone)

EOT discussion from CDC to lower buyout (insubordination leads to firing with cause, thus negotiating tactic to reduce buyout)

Herman standing firm on EOT because he’s told players he has their back and will support whatever they want to do (including not being on field for EOT – may not have said this directly, but gave assurances that WHATEVER they want to do, he will support; if he goes back on his word, loses team - more so than he appears to already have)

Herman making plenty of excuses to save face for next job opportunity. Similar to what we saw with Charlie during his last season.

Donors upset about EOT/performance on field, making life miserable for CDC and Hartzell.

UT administration doesn't see a way for team to win out, so gives blessing to BMDs to stay back channeling with Urban's agent.

If Urban agrees and we are out of contention for Big 12, Herman is fired and Ash finishes out season as interim HC.

I mean he's the one that brought up the eyes issue and its sticking like glue so idk
No, he's really not. CDC had 134 phone calls bringing up the eyes issue (though CDC didn't need it brought up) before Ketchum left his sandwich to type his first rant. The photo that someone not named Ketchum took that pissed everyone off had nothing to do with buddha.

UT does not make decisions based on the flippant rantings of a friggin message board website.

Actually, it's very possible and would likely help salvage the 2021 class, since it's currently imploding.  Herman would be reassigned and likely the official termination date would be early December.  That helps reduce the buyout from what I've read, but I'm not 100% on that.  Otherwise, if his replacement is named.....before the early signing day......and let's say it someone whose name rhymes with Bourbon Flyer, you could literally and possibly instantly have renewed interest from 2021 elite prospects as well as strong portal candidates.

Wait and watch is all I can recommend here.
