Help me first trip to Austin is for usc game

Scholz for a pregame beer was also pretty cool. Good atmosphere, pretty close to the stadium

I've had tickets for 30+ years and I used to sit way up high so I agree with Sir, get the lower level seats if you can.

You can always chance it and try buying from scalpers just before the game. Just print out a seating chart to be sure you know what you're buying.
I got screwed by fake tickets at national title 2 years ago so I plan to buy from legit source before arriving for game just can’t handle the anxiety with scalping anymore

Understand your feelings towards scalpers . Sorry I missed your statement where you were ripped off by one.

Regarding steak places downtown, I'd recommend this place:  https://alcsteaks.com/

When you're done with your steak, walk over to The Tavern, https://tavernaustin.com/  , get a cold beer or 3 and watch some games on their many TVs. They also have good burgers but by then, you will be full.

Good luck and welcome to Texas!
Alc looked nice

Breakfast hasn't been brought up yet, but my son and I eat at the Counter Cafe on North Lamar, just north of 6th street.  I have always enjoyed their breakfasts.  It's a total dive, won't be impressed by the ambiance, but man, great food to me at least.  I think Diners, Drive In, and Dives did a show from there years ago.  Another alternative for breakfast would be Kerbey Lane Cafe, the one actually on Kerbey Lane.  Blueberry pancakes, yummm

Another great spot for breakfast would be Magnolia Cafe on Lake Austin Blvd

Has anyone been to voodoo donuts thanks for reminding me to look at breakfast
Go to Round Rock Donuts if that's what you want. They ain't pretty but they're the best donuts in the world!

And yes, the chocolate covered one is real.
