I think its smoke and bs. Outside of OB, everyone else saying Buechele is ahead and getting more first team reps. Us fans will go crazy if Swoopes is named the starter.

Not saying that I believe it, but just keep in mind this is the coach who thought JG was our best running back last year.

Bobby Burton at 247 apparently checked with 3 sources about that story. 2 of the 3 laughed at the question and all 3 said Boo is in the lead and close to being named the starter. Take that for what it's worth.

That's why I never get too up or down on reports at this time. Just take it in and see what happens.

Not that I won't be disappointed, but it won't surprise me if Swoopes is named starter for Notre Dame. And excited as we all seem to be about Buechele, let's not forget he's a true freshman who hasn't played one snap of college football.  We've only seen him perform in one half of a rainy spring game so I try to temper my expectations in that regard. ND is big game and I don't know if you want to baptize a true frosh like that. With that being said, Perhaps Swoopes starts and plays the 1st series and after things have calmed down a bit you put in Buechele for the 2nd or 3rd series and perhaps the remainder of the game; depending on how he handles himself. But what do I know? 6 months ago I figured Heard would win the job outright and that Boo may not ever see the field especially with Elingher coming in January *Kanye Shrug*
