Just wanted to offer a hearty birthday greeting to the greatest state in the union! Thems that were born here and other that got here as soon as possible. Native born and transplants alike, aren't you damn proud to be a Texan? Have a blessed day one and all!

TEXAS DECLARES IT's INDEPENDENCE .. . . .on this day in 1836. . .Texas would declare it's independence from a BRUTAL (the sadaam hussein of his day) Tyrant who has illegally seized power in Mexico and voided the Mexican Constitution of 1824. It was not only Texas who fought back but many Mexican states including Vera Cruz. Santa Anna would put his opponents to the sword with no quarter. That is until Gen Sam Houston would end his reign of terror at least in Texas. Though not before the gallant defenders of the Alamo. . .Tejanos all .. .would give their last full measure of devotion.. . .

1936 stamp

Should bring this one back, but it would have to add fiddy cent ....

I would go Pol Pot or Hitler for the analogy.

One of the under acknowledged facets to Santa Anna was his genocidal nature.

As he moved east, he had every white person murdered, including women and children. He would let one adult who witnessed each new slaughter go free so that person would then go tell the rest of them. But he let native spanish speakers and native Americans go free.
