Great backup qb discussion in here!!!!

Bryce Petty now injured for Baylor; reported to have 2 cracks in in the transfer processes in his back.  Injured on his first run of the night against SMU.  Stayed in until halftime, with Baylor leading 31-0.  MRI done and Baylor is listing him as day-to-day.

I know it was Smu, but the backup looked pretty good also

i'm no doctor, but isn't broken bones in the back kind of a big deal? day-to-day doesn't make it sound like much.
My take on this is that Baylor is trying to downplay it.  From what I've read, there are really no "fixes" for this other than time and rest.  It doesn't affect the nerves, but it will hurt like the dickens every time he throws the ball, not to mention what could happen if he takes a hit.

I don't see him playing this week, but I have zero inside info on it.

Lastcall-their backup, Seth Russell RS FR, played the bulk of the second half, put up 7 points and was 13/23 124 yds 1 INT 1 TD.  He's not bad, but he's definitely not Petty.  Another learn-on-the-fly guy.

Agree that Baylor was a different team without Petty in there. He's going to need surgery, but that will wait until after the season for obvious reasons. Still, the kid is a senior (I think?) and this would affect his draft value a ton I would think. I'm no doc but I've had far less serious back problems that took time and rest to heal from.

Baylor may keep him band-aided and medi'd up through the season if the thinking is that the draft damage is already done. Still, there's got to be a risk there I would think and Petty would have to be ok with that.

Not if your Chuck Norris, that's like a paper cut.

Ahhh thanks for stats Joey I didn't see game till second half and announcer said he got hurt first series. I thought the backup did the damage to the defense.
