Like I said big news coming out of conference!

Didn't say it was good news, but it's def huge news. Swoopes will be fine guys. The way ash played we were going to have to rely on our defense regardless.

Don't hang me yet lol. I was hoping since it's not orangebloods I wouldn't be hung.

We are way too civilized in Texas for that hanging stuff now. You're not scared of needles are you, LastCall?  :P

And Ash is out for Saturday. Per Stong's PC this morning.

Hind sight is 20/20, but I still say when you're up on Directional U 28-0, put in your backup QB and get him reps.

Now we don't know whether the injury to Ash was compounded by staying in the game longer than needed, but I feel that it couldn't have helped matters. Kid is a tough player and a gamer. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Our season just got real interesting.

I don't care if ya believe me or not about the multiple times someone being asked to sit down. Three times is multiple in my book. I'm in section 29 and heard it. Once was to me. Lol i have seen Ricky Williams mom try to get someone escorted out for standing up.

As a former coach and player I can assure you " meaningful snaps" is any snaps you take, when in the game, when your still running the offense as if you are trying to score Those snaps def are worth it for a backup. Regardless of the score. The game does not have to be on the line to be considered meaningful. There is zero substitute for in game experience.
I agree with everything you said with the exception of thinking because you bought a seat that "entitles" you to do whatever you want.  That's a self centered, selfish and inconsiderate attitude.

Would you be okay with it if the guy in front of you turned around and blew his airhorn in your face the whole game?  I mean he bought his seat and is entitled to do whatever he wants - right?

I think, however, what you are trying to say is everyone should be on their feet, like the aggies. :)

I didn't know what you were allowed to bring airhorns in ;) .

But I do think it entitles you to stand up cheer, clap, and yell for our team. That's what I was getting at.

Even I can't and don't stand up the whole time like the ags lol.

i've often though they should rip the seats out of a couple of sections and put all the guys who feel the need to stand the whole game in there so they could enjoy each others superior fandom.

Is your hair blue, by chance? ;)

Disagree. You can't treat your starting QB like he's made of glass. If he's that breakable then he shouldn't be playing.

Wasn't saying we need to treat him like glass. My original point here was that Swoopes needs the work. IMO he should've been in after the first drive of the 3rd Qtr, which put us up 28-0 against a significantly inferior opponent, one that had not done anything on offense to put a 4 TD lead in jeopardy.
Today we know that Ash was injured at that point, but the staff didn't know (?) or felt it wasn't too bad (?) and he played until late in the 4th Qtr.

The injury of Ash was never part of my initial argument, which is why I pointed out today that I don't know whether pulling him early would've changed the outcome of his injury or not.

Ash is a competitive kid. Unfortunately he has battled concussions, and will have to make a decision about his football future over the next few weeks with his family. As the father of a HS QB, I can tell you that my decision on my son's future after concussion would be more on the cautious side. My situation is different, as my son isn't going to play QB in college.

Since last call started this thread talking about backup QB's and pretty much jinxed Ash, shouldn't he be getting the 50 lashes with a wet noodle?

I don't believe you heard multiple times people being told to sit down. I think that's a narrative some like to spew, but in my 30-plus years as a season ticket holder I bet I've heard someone asked to sit down half-dozen times.

Regarding 'meaningful snaps' that's the dumbest effing thing that longhorn fans continue to bitch about.

If your #1 QB goes down, you're screwed. Unless there's not much difference between 1 and 2.

Meaningful snaps means when the game us on the line. Why the f*** Would anybody play a backup QB when the game is on the line? Nobody does that.
One of the most intelligent posts I've seen.

YES, you are screwed when #1 QB goes down.  Just like at ou this year, or 99% of all college teams.

Really, pay attention you guys.

Ohio State started their #2 .. . . after week 1, they are ranked #3 in the nation in passing efficiency. . . .

I mention this because it's JT Barnett who many said was a far better prospect than Swoopes. . .

cheese...one game against navy for the osu and they struggled a good bit of it. the kid may be fine, but nobody is thinking osu is on the short list of NC contenders like they were before their starter got hurt.
