Whaley was going to get a good opportunity at the next level because hes in the same mold as Henry Melton. Damn shame this happened to him.
Gray...thats a very tough injury to come back from. Adam "Edge" Coupland in WWE, torn his on July 3, 2009, and was back in ring action February 1, 2010 (7 months). Hopefully he can be ready to workout in the summer and get right in fall camp.
I ruptured my Achilles Feb 2nd of 2010, had 3 different surgeries bc it wasnt healing well. Last surgery was October of 2011. Some people can come back from it. Many factors such as the severity of the tear(mine was 100%, while Kobe was not and Suggs was not) and just the way your body heals and the position that you play. Not good for a RB to tear it but you can come back from it.
I want Whaley to get a chance to prove his worth to the scouts...kid has recovered from a slow start to his career (somewhat self inflicted) but, nevertheless I want him to succeed as it seems he has accepted his new role and could flourish in it...
The injury to Whaley unfortunately cost him quite a bit of money. I hope for a speedy recovery and a NFL team to give him a chance, he deserves it.
As for Gray, hopefully the recovery goes smoothly as he should take his time before testing it at all in the off-season.
The losses give others opportunities. Bergeron has a chance to revive his career and prove the fumble problems are in the past. He has a chance to be a difference maker as he came into this year leaner and faster and has a chance to put his talents on film.
Desmond Jackson needs to step up and make more plays than he has so far in his UT career. If I would have told anybody at the start of the year that UT would be without Ash, Gray, Whaley and Hicks going into the toughest stretch of the season, optimism wouldn't have been high. Hopefully this team can overcome the losses.
