Good Article: How Urban turned around Ohio State

This Bleacher Report article is a good read. It should sound very familiar since CS appears to be taking a page straight out of Urban's coaching style book. Probably not surprising considering their time coaching together. Can't argue with the results UM's achieved and hope CS is equally as successful. No reason he can't be.

I don't think anyone could have predicted OSU would be back on the national scene this fast.  He's done wonders in Columbus and it's because he is a really good coach and a great recruiter.

What was Ohio St record the year he took over? Didn't he have an undefeated season yr one or two? Seems the cupboards weren't bare when he took over.

Yes, they were undefeated so he had some players to work with. Also, their conference has been fairly weak in recent years so that helped. But it also shows what can be accomplished with discipline and hard work. I have no doubt Charlie is on the right path even though his cupboard was more barren at some critical positions.

Agree he is a good coach who gets results, and Strong will as well. Just wanted to point out that when you have a good collection of talent on hand you can get immediate results. Of course their coach left amid scandal, not due to pathetic win/loss results from what I remember.

The Buckeyes went 6-7 in 2011, the last year Tressel was HC.  Meyer came in with players serving suspensions for a host of NCAA violations and with a frosh QB (Braxton Miller) and went 12-0.  Ohio State was ineligible to go to a bowl game that year also......

37-3 as Buckeyes HC.  Not shabby.

So what your saying is there is hope for 2015! I can get on board with that my friend. Thanks for the first year stays for Ohio St during Meyers first season. Didn't remember how that played out, and weren't they bowl ineligible for his first two seasons? I should have sold my gold pants, or at least traded for some sweet ink.
