Didn't mean for it to sound like I knew something no one else did.  I just mean it has been said that Merrick is still getting reps.  Not at the pace of Swoopes, Heard or Buechele, but enough to get coaches attention.

There is something going on with Locksley that has him in a "doghouse" and that puts Merrick ahead of him.,  By the time fall practice is done, if Heard doesn't start showing better than he has, Merrick moves into the backup role.  Forget Buechele - he will red shirt.

Swoopes will be our starter against Notre Dame.

Of course, like my thread opening, this is all just my opinion.  I welcome your counter arguments.

You like to post like you do know something no one else does such as forget Buechele-he will red shirt. You don't know that, however since you did say it's your opinion it makes more sense.

My opinion is that more and more likely Buechele will play this year unless Swoopes or Heard improve as passers from last year and the reports that have come out so far is that may not be happening. On the hand most of the reports on Buechele have been glowing. Charlie's job is on the line this year and he's not going to worry about red shirting Buechele if Shane can help win games this year. I'm not worried about Buechele not red shirting since it will give a two year separation between Buechele and Sam Ehlinger.
