Gil Brandt tweet

Honestly I didn't even know that old goat was still alive. This contract has been out for near a week now and Saban STILL hasn't signed it.
People are late to the party on this.

SG
Santa:

To be clear, an extension has been available to sign for over three weeks. The one presented last Friday was an increase over the previous. Neither has been signed, and the one from last Friday was for more per year than Brandt is reporting here. Everyone can analyze for themselves the credibility of this tweet.

Anything is possible in these type deals. But, as stated, he's had a looong time to sign that deal ... or at least put out the fire thru the media....

Assume for a moment that it were possible to hire any of Nick Saban, John Harbaugh and Gus Malzahn and have him as the new Texas coach next week -- is Saban the 100% choice here? I find Harbaugh extremely intriguing, so I wont at all be devastated if the above rumor turned out to be true. But seems like I am in the minority?

I second this....I think Ring Harbaugh is a much better choice......he could go to recruits and flash his SB ring and ask...how many other coaches are recruiting you have one of these? Not ever Messiah Saban can do that....

He could be like a boss....

Your assuming Harbaugh wants to convince 17-18 year olds to play for a university he coaches at. Hard to switch gears from the pros sometimes.

Bama has to appear to be trying to get him to stay. If he walked as is bamanation would be wondering why very little was done (publicly) to try and keep him.

I was going by this. Have no way of knowing if the claims are true.

In an exclusive series of conversations and emails with three independent sources close to the situation, we’ve learned that John Harbaugh is set to be the hottest commodity in the history of college football coaching. Three historical powerhouse programs potentially will be going all out to land the Super Bowl champion coach: Texas, USC and Michigan.
Each source was able to reveal this breaking information exclusively under the condition of anonymity.

“John is ready to move on from the Ravens and lead a college program for the rest of his career, if the right job presents itself,” source #1 told us.

“The NFL is a grinding gig and he has proven that he’s arguably the best coach in the league right now. But, many of his core pieces that have been with him for six or seven years have left the team, and he looks at the college game and looks at the glory and dominance that a coach like Saban or Urban are getting and gets a tad envious.” the source added.
But, if true and in light of events subsequent to that article, then we must be looking good to him now.

Exclusive: Texas, USC and Michigan to pursue John Harbaugh as next coa

Not really new news as saban has had extension on his desk since at least last week. Some reports say longer. Finebaum even admits last week and it's unsigned

Beware bama smoke. This is the second time recently it seems bama wants it out there they have offered an extension. Saban has not signed it. In the event saban leaves you can damn sure bet bama wants it out there they tried to keep him
