*****Game Thread: Texas vs. Texas Tech*****

I heard during the broadcast that the Tech coaches worked the most of the offseason on THIS game.

Does that mean they will suck the rest of the season?

INMO it means that TT had rather beat Texas and lose thier other games. Than lose to Texas and win the rest.

Along with most of all the other conference teams

Seems like every staff does that!  Or we play down to other teams

The Tech offensive coordinator supposedly told one of them that when they were visiting them during the week.

After processing the euphoria of the comeback win, I hope this is not a sign of the season after the win over ND in OT.

Good post. I agree with most.... with a couple of exceptions:

1. I thought Overshown did not have a very good game.  Tackling was poor and he overran the play a couple times.  Talent is there, no doubt.

2. You're a little more optimistic than I.  I see the same things in this team as every other Tom Herman team.  This is, as were the last 3, Tom Herman’s team.   Not the coordinators but Tom’s team.  At some point I think the focus needs to shift from coordinators and OL coach to Tom Herman.  I think that time has long since passed.

By the way, special teams (IMHO) is usually a product of emphasis and time the HEAD COACH puts on it.... regardless of who is assigned to it.  One constant in the CTH era is abysmal special teams.  Even worse than what Coach Strong ran out there.  Today was not the exception but the rule.

I know it’s early.... I know we’re 2-0 and I know I’ll get hammered for this  but Herman is the current problem.  Maybe we’ll get lucky with the next coach we hire   I feel better with Del Conte pulling the trigger this time.

I think Herman for whatever reason allows his teams to take some teams lightly but then monster plans for teams like OU, Georgia, Utah. This is why we lose one or two we shouldn't each year.

I don't think most of our players were ready to play Texas Tech. And somehow they forgot that we get everybody's best shot, regardless. We took this team way too lightly and are lucky to escape with a win.

SHA, I got to see a little of J Waddle. He looks good. He’s not looking better than Moore though. I wouldn’t mind having both.

I do think Eagles has matured. He may very well come into his own this year.
Moore looks good. I think we're just beginning to scratch the surface on him though.

Good news. Herman said at his press conference that Bijan is okay. That looked like it could have been a career ending injury.

That’s ridiculous.  Own up to either getting whipped or out coached.  Hot and tired?
