Texas and Lipscomb tip at 6:00 PM today at Madison Square Garden in the NIT Championship Game.

Televised on ESPN.

Up 41-27 at halftime.

Were down 22-19 and went on a 22-5 run to end the half.

Texas has low key blown everyone out in the tournament. The defense has been staggering. And they're hitting 3's. Shame they weren't this consistent throughout the season. Good job tho!
And that is the vexing part of this season. Where was this during the regular season? Or is it just inferior competition?

I'm as big a CDC fan as there is. But he's wrong if he thinks the basketball team is making progress. No and, if, or buts about it.

Texas AD Chris Del Conte on Shaka Smart: “We have a good coach. They’re good people and they do it the right way. We’re not where we want to be. But we won the NIT. We’re making progress. I’m happy."

Puke.

Everyone, including me, is disappointed in the season. That said, I'm happy that the players and coaching staff get to celebrate something, at least for a night. We've assumed for awhile (or at least I have) that Shaka isn't going anywhere and will be here next season. Hopefully he can build off of this run and the players gained some confidence that they can take into next season. Let's just be happy for them, if only for a moment:

I haven't seen joy like that from the basketball team in a long time. Winning something can do a lot for a program, as we saw with the football team. Hopefully they can turn it around.
