The Texas Longhorns (5-3, 4-3) own a three-game winning streak against the Kansas State Wildcats (4-5, 4-4), but Saturday’s game in Manhattan, Kansas could prove to be a challenge regardless of Texas being favored by seven points.

Why?

The Longhorns have historically had trouble winning in the Little Apple.  Sam Ehlinger threw for 207 yards and one touchdown and Texas squeaked out a 19-14 win in 2018. Other than that, the last time Texas won in Manhattan was 2002.  Before that? 1926.

While the Longhorns have had their share of struggles in an otherwise disappointing season, Kansas State has lost their last four games.  The Wildcats lost starting quarterback Skylar Thompson for the season due to an injury suffered in Kansas State’s 31-21 win over Texas Tech on October 3rd. Freshman quarterback Will Howard took the reins and won his first two starts but has struggled since.

The Longhorns will be missing several key players at kickoff as well.  Safety Caden Sterns and offensive lineman Sam Cosmi announced their decisions to opt out of the remainder of the season in preparation for the NFL Draft.  Center Derek Kerstetter is nursing an injury and may not play against the Wildcats.

True freshman running back Deuce Vaughn leads Kansas State in rushing and receiving yards, and is the only player in the Big 12 to lead his team in both categories.

If I was a non Texas fan, I'd consider taking KSU +7 because as you note, Texas has had a hard time winning up there.

Tyler Owens (is he at S or LB), Jerrin Thompson, Montrell Estell, and Kitan Crawford you're up.

Gotta start Josh Thompson, Jamison at CB; Adimora at NB, Brown and Estell at S, imo.  However, have Jerrin Thompson ready to go.  I would say Owens, but i have no idea where he has been slotted to play.

Texas actually playing football.  That, or KSU is really that bad.

Man Jake Majors turned his guy out of there on that score. Yeaaaaa

what has been noticeable about Sam from the time he was a freshman are just the simple throws you expect from an elite QB like the fade to Schooler earlier. He just misses throws you need to make to win those games against elite competition and I guess I was spoiled by McCoy. I really thought that Sam would progress to a better passer but I dont think thats the case.  When McCoy threw the ball down field, it got to the point that you just KNEW it was going to be to an open receiver or right on the money. It wasn't very often he missed.

I flexed on that one. That’s the way you play back there and break it up

Kansas St is just bad and making everyone look like conference champions. This game will give Tom and others a false sense of accomplishment and that they are on the right path....or at least thats what hes going to say.

Push in the back on the kstate TD by duece wasn't called and led to him scoring
