*****GAME THREAD: Texas Longhorns vs.Kansas State Wildcats*****

I beg to differ. Bijan got NINE stinking carries. That's not even letting him get into a groove. Nice friggin carries. smh
He could have had more carries yes. It appears for some reason that Texas never fully commits to the run. It’s hard for a fan to say he didn’t do this or he didn’t do that. There’s alot that goes into calling a game. His whole offensive line is shuffled around and then Derek goes down and you look up and you have two true freshman in there that have played virtually no snaps. Kansas St strength was their front four. I know they saw that we could play the quick game on them and they couldn’t stop it and that’s what they did. Was it perfect? Probably not. But he got nearly every receiver and slot guy loose. The way we beat teams is getting a better player than they have out in space. Whittington, jake smith, Eagles, Epps, wiley, Brewer, Moore. RB’s could have had more carries but damn if you score 69 it was pretty good.

Agree, but scoring 69 wasn't necessary. It's just eye-candy.

Instead of passing deep and the stuff like that which we did, why not just let Bijan get his time. KSU isn't a threat. Grind the clock and feed Bijan. Imagine what he could do with 20 carries? Hell, we might have ended up with 69 anyway but at least then you could say – hey, we ran the ball. we weren't trying to run it up.

We should have played Bijan more this year than we have, but it has allowed him to mature without, as they say in my profession, TAXING his body.  So he has been given the chance to mature his body and really learn the game.

He seems very happy about the whole thing.  This guy, barring injuries, will be a 1st round draft choice and do well in the NFL.

It'll be sad for me, though, since I haven't watched the NFL now in 3 seasons and I have no plans to start.

I agree but most of these offensive coordinators that are making well over a million per year got that way by being spread tempo pass first type guys. I’m sure Bijan is going to be getting 25-30 carries some days in the future. It will probably not be with two true freshman starting and probably another head coach and offensive coordinator

Anyone else wondering why we didn't play Reese Moore instead of Karic today?

What little we've seen of Reese Moore is pretty bad.  Of course, Karic is a true freshman.  When I watch a replay I'll pay attention to Karic, but he couldn't have done TOO badly because the OL wasn't terrible.

If I was a non Texas fan, I'd consider taking KSU +7 because as you note, Texas has had a hard time winning up there.
Glad I was wrong about this one! My daughter stated it seemed like Texas played mad and I replied, maybe they should play mad more often!

So Texas scores 69 points and some are complaining about the OC? ?

Did R. Moore make the trip seems like hewas out. Texas had another RB who looked very good . No problem with me in lettingtwo backs carry the load.

What got intoBaylor reallyhelt OU down.

Come on Tejas, we're Longhorn fans....we would still complain about winning a national championship.

For me, the only thing I'm complaining about is Texas is still limiting Bijan's touches. This kid should be getting 18-22 touches of the football every game, but this staff has really kept him under wraps.  Obviously he was able to do lots of damage with those touches yesterday.  That is my only complaint.

I watched the game again and I thought Jake Majors was fantastic. He is going to be a really, really good one.  C. Jones looked a bit overwhelmed at LT, imo. Totally forgiveable though because it's very difficult going from RT to LT in one week. The footsteps are different and can cause for missteps here and there leaving you exposed. I still see Jones at RT and Karic at LT next year. Still waiting on Tyler Johnson to be in the mix somewhere.  My prediction for next year is to see a starting OL of Karic, Angilau, Majors, Johnson, and Jones.

Yes.  Tyler Johnson should be good to go next year, and Hookfin might be the RT.

Jones just isn't much of a player.  Sam E's confidence in Jones is not warranted.

My wild guess of OL for 2021:

LT:  Karic

LG: Tyler Johnson/Angilau

c Jake Majors

RG:  Angilau/Tyler Johnson

RT:  Hookfin...this guy is really athletic...he needs to play SOMEWHERE on the OL

So true, I knew people who thought we gave up too many points to USC!
They always said the best job and the worst job is the Quarterback and offensive coordinator at the University of Texas. They say you probably get more credit when things are going good and get too much of the blame when things aren’t going good. That’s why you come to these type of programs though.
