*****GAME THREAD - TCU @ #9 Texas*****

This may have been talked about previously, but did Joshua Moore get injured?  I saw him limp off and don't remember seeing him again in the game.  Also, Black was mia and Schooler made 1 catch for a loss (thanks to a lack of blocking by Smith).  That's 3 WRs that offered / did nothing today.  Luckily Whiley and Epps picked up the slack a little.

On the WR note, UTs WRs have a difficult time creating space against press coverage, from what I saw.  Jake Smith does a pretty good job of running precise routes and creating space, but that was it today.

Just going to leave this right here...

He is being evaluated for a knee injury along with backup DE Leitao.

They are mostly young, except Schooler. Duvernay is very strong. When he needed to use his body, he could. I think Jake Smith can too.

I don’t like Urban personally but that’s not a requirement. The requirement is to win and he can damn sure do that.
Thing is, we wouldn't have to wait long for the winning to become ordinary. Everywhere he's gone, he's turned it around fast.

I've only got so many years left here. lol

Duvernay is in the NFL.

You're the second person to post that or something similar. I'm at a point in my life where I feel like I a have a foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. ?

Well after the game today, I was watching aggy get killed by Bama and was so pissed I was hardly enjoying it. My wife walks up and says "Lets go out to eat a nice dinner" so we did. A 9oz filet minion, baked potato, salad, warm bread and a couple of beers later, I feel a little better.

It's 9:00pm and ou still sucks!

One responsibility CTH does well is recruit... and that makes the on the field failures seem even worse.  This team is dreadfully prepared in most aspects of the game.  A personal pet peeve of mine is - it’s been 4 years and we can’t seem to master when to catch a punt and when not to.
I swear I saw the exact same post in 2002... about Mack Brown.

Change the punt comment to "can't seem to block on punts", and it would have been an exact replica of every post after the NC State opener.

I may have even been on the side of getting rid of Brown at the time. I can't remember. I know I wanted Greg Davis run out on a rail. Either way Mack was in his 4th year and still figuring out how to coach at Texas.

I learned something back then... If you have a coach who can consistently recruit top 5/10 classes then you're doing better than 95% of the schools out there. At that point you just hope he can learn to coach a big school before the recruiting shine wears off.

I thought replacing both coordinators last year was a mistake. We needed a new OC for sure, but I don't think DCs make much of a difference in the B12. Either way replacing both is always incredibly difficult. In rear view it was almost impossible to install new systems on both sides of the ball without a Spring practice and barely a Fall.

The coaching carousel can be a 30 year proposal. I don't want to get back on that again. Herman deserves more time.

I will be shocked if Urban Meyer is not the HC at Texas next season. I’m a fan of his product on the field but that’s about it. It won’t matter if CDC likes him or not I honestly believe Meyer has already had conversations just in case there was a slip up and it happened today (actually last week as well) This is where CDC, if he doesn’t know already, realizes how things work at UT. Meyer is a Big name in need of a Big job and we are a Big job in need of a Big name. Boosters will make it happen.

Thats true. Last week should have been the writing on the wall for us. We simply aren't very good.

I couldn’t disagree with you more.  The right coach makes a huge impact and usually very quickly.  He runs everything football related.... he recruits his players and hires his assistant coaches.

I couldn’t agree more, and I think this time it will all be kept very quiet.

No hints.  No nothing.

And I will shocked if Urban Meyer is the HC at Texas next season. It looks like one of us is going to be shocked next year.

I hope it's you! :)

If any of you know anything keep your mouths and keyboards silent!

I don’t know a darned thing, and I hope boosters keep their mouths shut. Loose lips sink ships!

Think it. Live it. Remember it!

Can I ask another question? Have you noticed how many Texas players get hurt every week? It seems like we have an extraordinary  amount of players go down every week. Is this just unlucky, conditioning, poor preparation, toughness........what the hell is it? I’d be interested in anyone’s opinion

No!

Just kidding.

I have been wondering what kids did for conditioning while they were gone from school, and gyms were closed, etc.

I saw a piece on some baseball players that had a friend who owned a gym. He went down & opened it for 2 or 3 of them. They wiped down equipment, before and after they used it, etc. Some may have gotten high school coaches to open for them.

COVID made things tough. I ran bleachers with my pups. Lifted some small weights, but that’s not enough for them.
