*****GAME THREAD: No. 9 Texas @Florida*****

I believe that f the defender rips off the helmet then it's a penalty, and the player can stay in the game, and no 10 second run off.

I didn't see what caused Arch's helmet to come off, but no penalty was called.
I sure thought the defender had Arch in a headlock.

Arch should’ve definitely been a 3-star recruit. Who is letting Arch throw like this? Surely someone should have fixed it. It’s not all on him bc the OL….

Fire the OL coach.

Sark needs an OC.

Defense being bad is very surprising. It’s almost like they play down when the offense sucks since every week the offense is bad outside of Sam Houston State.

We have all the talent in the world but it doesn’t look developed and scheming especially on offense is horrendous.

Doesn’t help when aggy appears to have fixed any issues they have and are now 5-0. Sure going to be a bitch losing to them this year

OL played terribly yesterday.

Don't fire the OL coach. Flood benched Stroh midgame yesterday. His hands might also be tied talentwise.

Sark does need an OC to check his arrogance and stubbornness.

Florida played their best game of the year yesterday and they won't duplicate it the rest of the season. It was their Super Bowl so to speak.

We seemed to have players open on lots of plays, and I mean wide open. Either Arch missed them, Arch didn't get time to throw, or Wingo missed on that flea flicker. It also seems to me like Arch is waiting for the deep pass rather than taking the 10 yard or so completion. If he isn't getting time he needs to get the ball out, not read from deep to short

Looking at the defensive stats I noticed a weird rotation. At Edge Simmons played most of the game, but on the other side There was a rotation of four. Kanu, Zina, Jackson and Burke. Remember the adage that if you have two QB's you have none? I think the same applies at the weakside Edge position. Texas has become too enamored with rotations on the defense. I get it for the big guys, but everybody else are racehorse athletes.

Did anyone notice the poor tackling attempts by Jelani McDonald on Dallas Wilson's tip toe down the sideline TD?
last time I saw tackling without wrapping up was when Akina was the DC. Hmmm.

This is the most disappointing season I have seen in all the years of following UT football. I guess I drank all of the cool aid fed to us all summer. I don't see this mess getting better. Maybe next year.

I came into this season with optimism, but also with a case of reality. I knew Oline would be a major step down from last year because 4 of 5 were unproven. I thought having Arch back there would hide some of the flaws, but his lack of confidence and their weakness has just enhanced each other. I understand now why Cujoe was ahead of Baker in camp. Baker is just not very good. Hopefully Stroh doesn't see the field anymore. Keep Brooks there and let him grow. WRs, besides Livingstone, have a hard time getting good separation. Time to play the young ones, Locket, Daylon M., and Ffrench. Locket has all the tools and can be a difference maker, imo (See Dallas Winston). This offense needs to hit more quick hitters instead of waiting for slow developing crossers and posts/flags. The Oline is just not equipped for that right now. Get the ball in space to the WRs.

On defense, I've been disappointed with both Simmons and Hill. Based on last year, those guys should be dominating every single play. Too many times I've seen Simmons "come close" but be late. Hill has not been the same hill. I love Taaffe, but this backend needs a hard hitting safety and a ballhawking one. Might be time to go with Filsaime and both Williams back there.

Too many questions marks on both sides of the ball.

I understand the disappointment. I posted back in the summer to tread lightly. There is a new OL, WRs, QB, DTs, and DBs. I was annoyed at Finebaum for preaching Texas was the most talented college team in the country. The media followed and made Texas #1. I suspected he set up Texas to fail. That being said, it is the Texas team's own fault - regardless of reading their media predictions, coaching, preparedness or all of above. Texas is not a good team. Potential doesn't win games. Personally I'm having flashbacks of 1965 and 1966: potential and close, but no cigar. I plan to do more crappie fishing. 😊

PS - I'm already getting snide remarks at church by land thieves. I simply smile and tell them "God loves you and peace be with you."

ESPN spent the entire offseason hyping Arch and Texas. Now they are happily trashing Texas which started with the loss to Ohio St.

Good. Humble pie for these guys.

One stat I would love to see is how many pressures the Texas DL/Edge had on Lagway? It seemed like he had all day to pick apart the defense. That part was truly disappointing yesterday. Lagway was a wounded duck and we let him waddle all game long.

The AP has a distinct anti Texas bias, but then again they're attached at the hip with ESPN which has been on a mission to tear down the Longhorns. This just demonstrates why the BCS dropped the AP from their equation.

From pre season #1 to maybe the 4th best team in the state. Sark has some splaining to do .
And not the " We got to do better" bs.

He won't. Sark doesn't care about Longhorn nation. Especially when it comes to his accountability. Dumping the spring game should have been everyone's first clue. Breaking a 65 year tradition. Again, he doesn't care.
Edit: When does he double bird a camera on signing day? He's getting as thick headed as Herman.
