*****Game Thread: No. 3 Texas Longhorns vs. No. 2 Washington Huskies*****

QE with a pretty poor pass when Mitchell was pretty open in front corner there...didn't need to be floated. Should've been an easy completion based on the coverage. Sucks

If I never see Penix against one of my teams it will be a day too soon.

Unreal we even had a shot there. Oh well great season. Better than anything we had under Strong or Herman. Wife’s Bama lost now my horns but it has been exciting year

Not impressed with the play calling on the 15… but thankful to be a horn fan. Played poor, but nothing to be ashamed of.

Nice comeback effort, but no cigar tonight. Proud of the team that exceeded expectations for the season.

We've known all year that coverage skills were lacking and the coaching staff has been recruiting to remedy that for future years. Also, a better pass rush would help which they've also been working on, too.

Overall I just hate it. But I'm very happy, actually elated at the season we had. Very proud to be a Longhorn right now.

Texas met and exceeded expectations. They paved the way for future Longhorn teams and their successes.

I'm really looking forward to this team's debut season in the SEC. Should be wild.

Question for those who know more than me: Had it not been the final deciding play of the game, would that CB have been called for PI? Looked to me like he used Mitchell's shoulder to elevate himself to knock the pass away. Getting that much higher than AD doesn't seem likely without a boost.

Yea there is a great photo of it going around, he def climbed the ladder but is what is it. Wasn’t called and they live to fight another day.

The refs hosed us all night I thought. On their last touchdown, there was a clear block in the back that wasn’t called.
Bad holding call in first half. Several no calls on holding against them.
But the fumbles that we lost killed us. So many close plays went their way.
That was a winnable game, it just didn’t work out. They were well coached with a hot senior quarterback.

if Quinn comes back, he will be a junior. He should be considerably better.

Really looking forward to next year!

Final thoughts from me:

1. Yes, that was a TD had QE thrown it lower and outside, but he didn't have time and at least put the ball out there for a possibility.

2. Texas was clearly missing 2 spots on defense that would've changed the game. They needed a dominant EDGE rusher and a ballhawking S. Sure, the DBs got torched, but they were at least in position. A high quality EDGE rusher (or 2) and S makes the difference tonight. Hopefully Moore and Mukuba fill those needs next year (with Simmons coming along and Burke getting better). Also hope Vasek puts it together.

3. I'm proud as hell of this team and season. Texas had a chance to win it when they probably shouldn't have had a chance at all. That was true Texas fight last night and shows character. Teams in the past would've given up in the 3rd quarter when things started going south. Upgrade the spots we're losing and come back to the party again next year.

We were outplayed in every aspect except running game which Sark didn't take advantage of. Great season but Washington seemed to be in control. It was tied at half but we got gift in form of muffed punt.
