The Texas Longhorns (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) are set to host the California Baptist Lancers (2-0, 0-0 WAC) at the Frank Erwin Center on Tuesday evening. These two programs will meet for the first time ever, and will play as part of the 2K Empire Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project Regional Round.

Texas defeated #23 Purdue in its last outing 70-66, snapping the Boilermakers’ 18 game home winning streak.  Texas point guard Matt Coleman III led the Longhorns in scoring with 22 points in the win.

Cal Baptist, like the Longhorns, started their season 2-0. The Lancers won their season opener against Jackson State 73-70 and defeated Cal Lutheran 112-56.

Senior forward De’jon Davis is a player to keep an eye on. Davis finished Cal Baptist’s first two games with back-to-back double-doubles.  He also leads the Western Athletic Conference with 21 rebounds.  Junior guard Milan Acquaah was named the WAC Preseason Player of the Year.

Cal Baptist looks like a solid program. Coaches' record is very respectable. Looking forward to watching it!

This Texas team really impressed me at Purdue.  All of Shaka’s teams have been impressive athletically, but this one looks mature and able to hit clutch free throws. This caused me to raise an eyebrow.

Build on the momentum and keep this train rolling. Hopefully we see some improved offense from Baker tonight, as well as an extended look at Williams.

Watched the last 7 minutes, good to close out another win.  Looking at the stats for all of the games I notice our 7 foot big man is chucking and missing 3 pointers.  I believe 0 for 10 on the season.  Seems like he should be down low posting up on the low block not hovering on the perimeter.  Coaches need to reel this in and get him involved in other ways.  How about sticking to defense, blocking shots and rebounding?
