What games are you guys going to this week?

I think I may hit the Longview-Amarillo Tascosa game, if I don't go deer hunting.

I think we're going to the Longview/Amarillo game.  A buddy of mine wants to go to the Allen/Duncanville game too so I may be a Uncle Jerrah's house all day...

That Allen-Duncanville game will be awesome. My sister lives in Longview and is a big fan, so I will likely be drug along with her to that one . . unless I'm deer hunting. lol

Your thoughts on the game?
Allen’s band is so large it can probably field a football team and win the 3A title :D .  Silly they have grown that school so damn big.  My nephews graduated from there, the graduation was outside at the stadium, probably had 1,500+ graduates.  Fortunately we left after the Es were through!

I was never in the band, but I absolutely love the marching band sound. The thing about Allen's band, its not only big, it's very good. When you have that many instruments working together at the same time, it makes for a beautiful sound.

McKinney Boyd also has an impressive band. They actually work a light show into their show, the lights are in sync with the music.

Yeah, four of my kids graduated from Lewisville High. Each of those classes had 1500 grads in it. It takes a long while to get to the "Ls"

Your thoughts on the game?
Duncanville's QB is an ELITE athlete, I dont know where he translates to at the next level. Probably not at QB, but in the right system he could be a really good QB. I don't think he's as good as Tristan Wallace or Shawn Robinson was in HS (as of right now tho).

Duncanville's defense is the star of the show. They are all big and fast. Safety/OLB has NFL ceiling.

Keys to game: They haven't been tested all year. Weak district. Weak non district schedule. How will they respond to being in a close game? How will they respond to a team that can match them blow for blow?

Should be a great game!

Decatur is in the semi's with an 8-6 record. That means they finished the regular season at 4-6, right?

What's been their playoff road so far and is there any chance for them to finish off the cinderella story?

Very good points. Maybe we should be recruiting that QB you're talking about?

I know we're after Thompson on that defense. Is that the safety you're talking about? It will be interesting to see Weis against that secondary.

Good luck to Allen against Duncanville. I gotta pull for Allen due to a personal interest there (I have a customer who works there).

Decatur is a team that had a late season surge and began believing in itself. Their path was relatively easy comparatively speaking.

I can't say they have a prayer against #4 La Vega though. I picked La Vega to win it all and they just beat Argyle pretty badly last week.

#3 Mart 40

#6 Falls City 13

Final

Gruver 30

Albany 17

Final

#3 Mart will face Gruver for the Class 2A Div 2 State Championship next week.

La Vega 53 Decatur 0

So much for the Cinderella finish.

East Texas Update

Malakoff 23

Brock 21

Malakoff going to their 1st ever state title game. Played them my senior year and they had some athletes. They had some good playoff runs, but this year they finally got over the hump. Scary thing is their QB, 2 RBs, 2/3 WRs are all coming back next year.
