Pleasant Grove makes school history

Texarkana Pleasant Grove High School has only been in operation since 1987, but still thats a long time to go without winning a district title or have an undefeated season.

But thats exactly what PGHS did when they defeated Gladewater 50-7 last Friday night. For the first time in school history, a 10-0 season was achieved, a district title was achieved, and its first ever bi-district game was scheduled for this Friday against Tatum.

The AP has Pleasant Grove ranked #8 currently in the state’s 4A top 10.

i'll be shooting (photos) the plano vs trinity game friday night.  i don't think there are any Texas targets at the game.  i don't know anything about trinity but plano has a couple of good running backs.  if they had a better qb, they'd go far in the playoffs.  since they don't, i don't think they go very far.

Trinity is good when they're clicking on all cylinders. But they've been inconsistent this year. Now, if they get it figured out soon they could cause some noise.

Plano can beat Trinity if Trinity looks past them or has "one of those nights."

I would say they are pretty evenly matched. Should be a good game. SB might have a slight edge.

hebron vs allen - i was at the hebron vs plano game earlier this year.  i've been at 2 allen games when they played plano and plano east.  the qb for hebron was pretty good from what i remember.  he could sling the ball.  this could be a shootout.

Hebron is one of those teams where you have to say "on any given night." They seem to play up or down to their competition.

Yeah, after doing a little research SB comes out of the same district as Aledo.  As a matter of fact their only loss is to Aledo.  With that being said, Denison is probably up a against it.  Regardless, I'll be there hootin' and hollerin' for my alma mater!

Well, its one of the weakest districts in the state, once you get past Aledo. It really is.

Everybody in that district loses to Aledo. Its like a tradition nowadays. Aledo doesn't get a good game until they get into the playoffs a few rounds.

Boswell lost in the semi-finals last year to Aledo, too, in a rematch. They're well-coached and play hard. Not real big, though.

I would hope that one day soon the UIL will consider shrinking the playoff field, maybe reduce the playoffs by a round.

The number of complete blow outs in the scores above is evidence that we're just not helping anything by putting half a district into the playoffs. These are just not interesting games in this first round and it hurts the product as a result, IMO.
