Football Season Thoughts So Far

A few observations on the football year, so far and in no particular order.

Polls this early in the year are really useless. Arkansas became the first team ever to be ranked in the top ten to lose three times in September.

Continuing that thought, Michigan ranked #18? The media keeps talking of Dennard Robinson like he is some elite player but in actuality he is a below average QB who has gotten worse as he gets older.

The Big X in general is a mess as they continue their slide into irrelevance. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of schools or their not so charming commissioner. I guess it was his idea to name their two divisions "Leaders" and "Legends?" Hilarious that OSU is leading the "Leaders" division with PSU being last in the leader category/division.

Is Notre Dame for real? I think so but my hatred for all things ND blinds me..but..they have won all (4) games and three of them were against Big X teams and the other was Navy. I think their fans will be unhappy before this season is over and that's a good thing.

Someone needed to tall Mizzou than talking shit and wearing gangsta type uniforms won't win games. Goes double for ATM with their billboard intimidation and made up National Championships. Every day I give thanks that these two chumps are gone. Thank you Longhorn Network.

Does Garrett Gilbert's daddy have any constructive criticism he would like to share? No, Good!

News Flash: That old dude on the Kansas St sideline can coach. I fear him.

Who is your biggest surprise of he year, so far?

The candidates:

Louisiana Munroe

Florida St

Notre Dame

Kansas St

University of Texas

The winner..you guessed it..The University of Texas

Good thoughts and spot on. Looking at the college football landscape today, Alabama is in a class all by itself. Looking at the next tier of talent (LSU, Georgia, FSU, etc...), these teams can be beaten and will lose a game or two this season.

If Notre Dame gets through their schedule with no losses it will be hard to keep the Irish from playing in the n.c. game. They look like a good team and they have an impressive qb.

Heard Todd Blackledge last night mention the absurdity of polls this season and I cannot say i disagree with him. Even so, i enjoy preseason rankings and the week-in, week-out fight to move up.

The Horns have surprised me this year, both good and bad, but David Ash is the biggest surprise. I think i feel comfortable in saying now that he can lead this team to glory during his tenure in Austin.
