FIRECROSS IS NOT FOR HOMERS!
If you are a homer, this thread will not be for you. Here at FIRECROSS we are reserving the right to rain on your parade, piss in your punch bowl and hopefully convince the humble Longhorn fan that it is truly going to take a village to turn this battleship around.
THE PROBLEM
Mack Brown/The inability to fire him when he didn't produce.
Any division within an organization whose leader becomes more important than the division is setting itself up for failure. Such was the case when the former head football coach endeared himself to the administration and BMDs to such an extent that he was almost impossible to remove. This not only set the football team back several years but the weakness of the Longhorns during this period set the stage for Missouri and Texas A&M leaving. People respond to strength. Nobody takes orders from a loser.
THE SOLUTION
Although much of the burnt orange and white nation believe that they are a head coach away from regaining past glory, it is actually Longhorn Nation that must be reformed before the football team can prosper. If this board is indicative of Longhorn Nation, it is apparent that LN still lacks the balls to deserve a winner. I am not implying that coach Strong cannot win at Texas. He can. What is necessary is that LN exhibit the patience that will be necessary to change the culture of the university.
