Which one?
I remember way back during the last coaching change and Olberman was at ESPN -- and, for a brief time, it looked like Gary Barnett was going to be the choice. Keith was outraged! Outraged at the idea that Barnett would leave "a school with a great reputation" like Northwestern for "a place with anything but." For a place with anything but? Really Keith?
I have looked for video of that pre-everything-digital clip but, sadly, have never been able to find it. But the quotes are accurate. That segment got seared into the neurons -- the same way like the question of where you were when the The Challenger blew up (or where you were when the Oilers blew a 32-point lead to Buffalo in the playoffs). The only part I am not certain of is whether he said "school," "team" or "place." But he definitely slammed us, with no back up of course. It was only a few seconds but in them, Olberman seemed to reveal, with eyes bugged and spittle flying, his hatred towards the state, the school and the people. I wish it were preserved.
I don't know how this guy keeps escaping himself for new jobs. He's a hater. They way I look at it is if Rush Limbaugh'as schtick was too much for Disney, then so should Olberman's be. Their politics are equal extremes but Olberman has even a few more skeletons. For example, he has been accused more than once of mistreating women. And then there is the issue of him misrepresenting his academics. How do people like this keep getting promoted?
Anyways, an off topic rant. Sorry. But all done now.
