ESPN 30 for 30: The Boz -- 10/28

I remember when he said he hated Austin.

And even the color orange.

It was a pretty good show.

Brian Bosworth got caught up in his celebrity persona and being "The Boz".  Can't say that I feel sorry him or for the mistakes he made, but regrettably he surrounded himself with people who wouldn't check his ego.  His decisions helped him and his agent financially, but definitely hurt him emotionally.  Depression is real and not a condition I'd wish on anyone, not even a Sooner.

Almost 30 years later, he's still making reparations to his Sooner teammates, alumni, and fans. Apparently, Tony Casillas still hasn't forgiven him.  Can't please everyone, I guess.  Time doesn't heal all wounds, but Bosworth seems like a guy you can enjoy a beer with today.

Personally, I think Tony Casillas has it right. I might be willing to sit down and have a beer with Boz just to hear what kind of bull sh** story he had to tell, but I sure as hell wouldn't trust him to be a business partner.

Bosworth's book exposed the thug show that was Switzer football. That's what pissed off Switzer.

Switzer and Jackie Sherrill have a lot in common. The only thing they regretted was getting caught and they are still adored by their fan base.

Unfortunately still see and hear from Switzer, on local sports radio yesterday PM. Glad we don't hear from Jackie. Enjoyed Ricky blowing his team up in the cotton bowl in '98.

Jackie was coaching for Mississippi State in the cotton bowl.
That's right, my mistake.

'99 Cotton Bowl win made up for the loss in '91 - Sherrill's first season at Miss State.  He castrated a yearling before the UT game in Starkville.  What a maroon!

I don't hate anybody but the Boz was a JACKASS that I absolutely loathed and detested back in the day.

I watched the program the other night - very interesting & well done. Brian Bosworth got caught up in being The Boz.  I have some empathy for him because of the father he could not please, but betraying his teammates and former coach is something many of them will never be able to forgive.  He continues to apologize and seek forgiveness - he seems a far more humbled man.  however, I still loathe him for some of the things he did and said when he played for ou.
