How about that 'Nova team?  Wow.  They have balls of steel.

Did they get some help from the officials down the stretch?  Yeah, but the officiating was sketchy the entire game.

What a shot to win it at the buzzer.  And kudos to Paige for the shot that tied it up with 4.7 seconds for UNC.  Helluva shot.  Great game to watch.

If the game goes to OT and UNC wins, Paige is a Tar Heel legend. Now only he and his mama will remember it.

Fun game to watch. MJ's reaction at the end was gold.

That's about the most exciting ending I've seen in a NCAA championship game.
Should've seen Whittenburg to Lorenzo Charles for the walk-off dunk to sit down Phi Slama Jama in '83

The Houston-North Carolina State game was the best, but I was rooting for Houston so it was a big disappointment. It turned okay in the end as a Rocket fan since Hakeem and Clyde won a championship with the Rockets

I hate that Valvano run

It's torture

Played over and over, every year

Anyway, thought this was alittle bit funny, a little bit sad --

Guy Lewis lost that Houston - NC St game by slowing the game down. I think Houston finished w/1 slam dunk. Have to give credit to Jimmy V and the Wolfpack, they played a great game.

What made last night's game so great was the back to back 3s made. Unbelievable finish!

Regarding the Houston/NC State game in 1983: I remember Houston being up by 10 in the

second half, then they went into a "stalling/run out the clock" kind of thing and that definitely

wasn't their style. I also remember Clyde Drexler fouling out with a lot of time left, with 4 of his

5 fouls being offensive fouls as he was attacking the rim and being aggressive. That style would

serve him well later in the NBA, but not against NC State in college. I had become a fan of Phi

Slamma Jamma and was greatly disappointed that day!

My dad is an NC State grad. I recall being one of only a handful of kids at my school that was pulling for the upset. It was funny the next day at school seeing the apologists for UH out in force. Every excuse in the book. This after being told on multiple occasions prior to the Final Four starting how NC State couldn't win due to no 3 point line.

In the semifinal game preceding the Houston/NC State game, Houston ripped apart a

damn good Louisville team. I remember Rodney McCray was on that Louisville team;

I can't remember who else, but that semifinal was one of the more electrifying "above

the rim" college basketball games I ever saw. Lots of future NBA talent participated in

that game...lots of high jumping above the rim action with spectacular dunks.

Jim Valvano was able to keep Houston out of that style of play in the NC game...credit

should definitely go to him for that. Great coaching job by Valvano that day!
