Uh OH..This is what he said in response to a Patterson thread.. .we may have to be patient with Patterson because he's in a tough spot. strong rumors coming out today that he was told by Mack that he might decide to come back for 2014. don't shoot the messenger but that's what's going around. Heard that from 2 people today. All of the people who said Mack was getting forced out were misinformed. This was always about Mack and what he wanted to do. Patterson would have some serious guts to fire Mack after Mack is headed for a 3rd place or better finish in the Big 12. obviously, this is a very fluid situation but that's what is going around.

I don't think we hired him to coddle the coaches, he's gettin paid good money to make tough calls...

That certainly differs from what Mcphaul (and several others) has been reporting and certainly what Jesus reported on IT today. He's 100% Mack is out.

I like El Mahico but I get the idea whoever he talks to is more on the Bellmont side of things, and he's being used for some smoke. He's been claiming things like Mack can do whatever he wants..that its totally up to him, and that Saban told UT no several months ago...which no one else has heard and the complete and total opposite is being reported elsewhere in pretty great detail. Not even Ketch on OB (who has been very conservative on everything ) thinks Mack will be back

you don't think retaining mack would be a tough call?

Very valid points.. I am just ready for it to all be over one way or another...

Guys do not believe this Dark Smoke.......2 many people have hired Saban and BMDS have put their names on the LINE for this to happen.

Look I think it time for Mack to go but I think we are underestimating the power that Mack has still. I still think he retires but there is nothing for sure until black jack Mack says it's time. We can all say that he is gone all we want but he could throw that ace of spades on our ass and make us all look like fools. We will see?

I've been railing for a while that we need an individual in charge who is willing to be held accountable for making the decision to retain or fire Mack. This isn't a minor hiring decision. The head coach at UT is the highest paid public employee in the state.

There needs to be some accountability brought into this whole circus. If Mack stays, the amateurs who promised Saban and failed to deliver need to be eliminated from involvement in hiring coaches moving forward. UT athletics is big enough not to be held captive to the whims of a few overbearing people who can't deliver.

If Mack stays, careers have to be on the line if we have a crappy season next year, which I strongly believe we will. There has to be a price paid for making detrimental decisions.

I agree, heads need to roll.

Actually, Mack has no real power left beyond having friends who care enough to help make it appear he's going out on his terms. However, those same friends are all onboard with the fact its time for change. It's always darkest just before the dawn guys...that's pretty much where we are with this thing. It's 5am and sunrise is coming in the next few weeks.

El Mahico is certainly playing his new role at Orangebloods to the hilt.

As I posted on OB, if MB is allowed to hold this program hostage another year for a "3rd place or better" finish in the bad Big 12, after taking 3, could be 4 beat downs this year, I may have to take a year off, next year, for his "farewell tour"

someone mentioned in that thread that EM was basically being used in the play that will make Mack's retirement look like it was totally his decision, and he was not in any way pushed out...which is Mack's parade option he took.

EM even admitted that was possible yet still goes along with this other stuff. I think he knows what is going on, but is playing the script someone told him too. He's done a 180 ever since that big incident went down on OB with him being threatened by someone

Not saying your wrong... but we will see

Complete 180

We aren't just trying to hire a football coach. We are trying to find the next generation of leaders to drive the program forward. Deloss was in his late 40s when he came to take the program from a storied program to a financial juggernaut.

Joe Jamail, Red and the old guard aren't going to be around much longer. We need to find a new generation of donors, but we also need to find another generation of people who can help lead the program. The only way we build a group of people who succeed is to eliminate those who don't. It isn't about writing a big check when you don't deliver, its about stepping aside and making room for someone who can.

Yeah I'm starting to question EM's sources. He also posted the Aggy game coming back despite no one else hearing it. Even though I don't think Saban is coming I find it odd that me is the only insider saying he already told us no. Jesus' Humidor today is very definitive that Mack is gone. I'm going to put my stick in his sources over EM's.
