Earl Campbell to Have National College Football Award Named in His Honor | ETSN.fm - East Texas Sports Network

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award will be presented yearly to the nation’s most outstanding FBS college offensive player beginning at the conclusion of the 2013 season at an awards banquet in Tyler. The player must also classify as a senior academically.

The NFL draft used to be a non-event held on a weekday. Right after the Oilers drafted Earl, my old man drove right to the Oilers offices & bought season tickets. Those were great times.

I grew up in Beaumont and drove with my dad to the Astrodome for every home game and saw his greatness on the field. When he was traded to the Saints my dad quit watching football. To this day he says Earl Campbell was the greatest running back he has ever seen play the game.
