I know some of you bristle at the thought of a guy cutting it down to 12 but that is recruiting these days and Jackson seems like a pretty genuine guy. According to Coleman Feeley the Elsik MLB has the best first name in football.

Texas made the cut and should be the leader in the clubhouse at this point in time. We've been told Jackson loves Coach Strong and has a great relationship with Malik Jefferson. Jackson has crashed at Malik's dorm numerous times. The biggest surprise was Fresno State making the cut and the Aggies excluded. Jackson seems to value a no nonsense program and was roasted for it on Aggie message boards. He responded with a couple of other tweets most notably saying he could sense a fake from a mile away.

You've steadily maintained that Jackson is a guy that other recruits are watching, and that he has the "pied piper effect" in this year's class. Who specifically do you think would be heavily influenced by a commitment from DJ?

To your point, any kid liking A&M and keenly interested in playing with Jackson is going to have a decision to make.

I'm like you Roach in that I think Jackson is a Texas lean right now.  Still a full TXHSFB season to go before NSD but Longhorn fans should be confident at this point.

Jeffrey McCulloch is a big one. The two are close.

I think there is something to that "pied piper" effect as to recruiting...I remember all the great WRs that came to Texas

after Chris Simms came in 1999. The 2000 recruiting class for Texas for WRs was great...and that class of receivers

paid with big contributions. Roy Williams, BJ and Sloan Thomas...after Simms came to UT. If D. Jackson has that

same "pied piper" effect, I pray he commits to Texas!

like this one...

I can see what players and parents love about Strong. With him, you get the real deal-coaching, growth, education, self-discipline, values. He's willing to put in the time and effort to make it happen.

Strong gets it, and he gets it done.

Hook 'em!

for me, it's way too early and too many schools listed to be confident on this one.

You always have to worry about Bama and LSU in recruitments, however the signs continue to point to Texas. Strong's style and philosophy resonate with him and he's very close with Malik Jefferson. A&M folks felt good about the progress they were making on him, and then they didn't make the cut. That is big news. Texas will be in it until the end and I expect them to win out in the end.

He sounds like a well grounded young man like Malik. I think Strong's program attracts men like that.

Hook 'em!
