Jason Suchomel over at OB put out an article today on the whole Angelo Football Clinic fiasco. He contacted the co-owner of the clinic, John Paul Young. Young's response to the Haney article, "It's Bogus".

I've said on here before and I don't know why no one seems to get it. But the #1 rule for a reporter is never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Now let's see if John Paul Young refutes the story to anyone else other than OB.

He's calling Haney's original story bogus. The story about organizers lodging a complaint against Charlie originated on message boards, I'm going to need something more to even give that rumor the time of day.

Jeff Howe of 247 also contacted John Paul Young. Young is saying Haney didn't even have "proper clearance" to observe the speech. 

Jeff Howe also has coaches coming forward that are saying Haney is way off base. Howe's sources aren't anonymous either, he's naming coaches like coach Young.

Seems Travis Haney was talking to people who didn't think much of the Charlie Strong hire from the very beginning.  No reason for Haney to run the article without someone going on the record. I know that many Texas high school coaches wanted Art Briles to get the UT job. Unless Haney can have his sources go on the record, then it looks like he has an agenda.

  Below is some quotes from his ESPN insiders article when Strong was hired. Someone posted the article on the Okie board:

“[The Strong hire] isn’t scaring anyone in Texas,†one coach told me, referring to the state’s other programs. The same coach added that the prospect of the Longhorns hiring Baylor head coach Art Briles “terrified†those in the area. They felt Briles was the perfect football fit, even if he isn’t the most media-oriented coach in America. (Or if the thought of hiring Baylor’s coach was difficult to stomach for some UT die-hards.)

(Maybe Strong does win at Texas, instilling toughness and discipline that coaches told me had dissipated under Brown. But the first-blush reactions from many I spoke with Friday night, as the news of the Strong hire began to break, were of skepticism. Some even laughed.
