CFS will probably be back IF  he somehow miraculously turns around this porous defense, abysmal special teams, and finishes 8-4 with no further embarrassments. That's how I see it anyway. If not, I'm ready for the Tom Herman Era to begin next year.

Mike Perrin is a fill-in puppet. He doesn't know how to run an athletic department. We should hire Oliver Luck, too, if he wants the job. Correct a previous mistake.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly do you think Perrin has gotten wrong? What do you base your opinion on when you assert he has demonstrated a lack of ability to run a college athletics program? Last I noticed, West Virginia didn't materially benefit from Luck's leadership. I haven't noticed any material improvement in the NCAA since Luck moved to Indianapolis.

I'm betting you haven't studied Mike Perrin's leadership much. Matter of fact, I'm betting you haven't ever met him, nor have you talked with many employees who currently work for him.

A head football coach is a ten-year hire. An AD is a twenty-year hire. Of course Perrin isn't the guy to be the long term AD at Texas.

I'm just wondering what generated the comment insinuating Perrin was not competent. Personally, I think he is the perfect guy for the position at the moment, all things considered. I'm looking forward to getting someone in the position to start moving long term projects forward, but for the time being, Perrin is a great choice to be managing things.

Ok, so everone wants Herman. I get it, I get it, so do I, but I started thinking what makes Herman different than Charlie? Is he really a can't miss hire?

A highly successful coordinator that won a title under Urban Meyer, took over a non P5 program and started beating everyone while having lesser talent on his first stint as a HC. Now he's ready to take over a blueblood program? Who does that sound like? Just sayin.... Can't afford to get the next hire wrong.

^^^THIS^^^ I think we need to settle down and let this season play out.  We're all pissed, frustrated, disappointed, etc. But we STILL have a chance to win the conference and go to/win a bowl game.  We'll beat Ho-U, IMO. Regardless of what we've trotted on the field the past couple of years, Charlie has played them tough; beating them last year.  And wasn't this defense worse a year ago? Let's allow this season to play out and see where we are. As of right now, October 4th, 2016, The University of Texas Longhorns football team is still very much in position to accomplish every realistic goal that was set at the beginning of the year...

He's pretty much played out his need.  They need to hire a new AD before they consider going final on firing Chuck, I'm of the opinion that our New AD should play a part in the hiring of a new coach if that's where we are headed..

I totally agree. I have seen enough. In fact I've seen too much. I hope we beat the hell out of blow you and it will not change my mind in any regard that we need a new head coach.

You're missing my point MB. And I think a lot of you guys are being too emotional. Being reasonable, is 8-4 not an improvement? I mean, what were your REALISTIC expectations for this team coming into the season? I was over the top excited after the Notre Dame win as well but I still didn't expect us to go undefeated and win the NC. I'm just as upset about Cal & OSU as the next guy.  But it is definitely not time to blow it all up. Regarding 1 game, we beat Ho-U and we're sitting in the driver's seat to win the conference (Ho-U beats Okie Lite in Bedlam).  How can you honestly say, if we win conference and a bowl that Charlie needs to go?  Heck, going 8-4, not winning the conference and winning a bowl is a vast improvement over the past 2 years. And yes, 9 wins next year is an improvement. Mack had us spoiled with 10 win seasons and no one was more appreciative of his success than myself.  But do you guys remember the firemackbrown.com website?  And being totally honest, Mack in 16 years only won 2 conference championships while being blownout by Ho-U dang near every year...

The only comparison I see between Mack Brown and Charlie Strong is that they are both football coaches. And I am not being facetious. This current team has been poorly coached since Strong arrived.

I don't disagree with you. 

I honestly believe that there's not a game left on the schedule that is a sure loss. Not even OU. 

But the problem is that, in a conference that has no powerhouse team, there is also not a game left that is a sure win except for Kansas. That is mind-boggling!

Again I don't think Strong will ever have what it takes to compete with Saban, Meyer, Dabo, Jimbo, Peterson, Patterson, etc etc. He is the 5th worst coach in the worst conference in America.. No thanks.

I'm not convinced he's not. I mean, why are we not even giving Strong 4 years to win the conference but gave Mack, what, 8?  And Mack inherited Ricky Williams. Idk, I'm willing to let the season play out and reevaluate then. We go 6-6 and continue to give up 50 pts/game and endure a couple of blowout losses, then perhaps you're right...

I get both sides of the argument and everyone has an opinion, a "source" or has just taken a side either way. I would love nothing more than Charlie and the horns beating the ever living crap out of the sooners and send them home with a losing record. The thing that tips me over to the side than this won't get turned around is the comments of some of the players. I've seen some complacency and comments that do not reflect confidence in the coaching staff. I know it's only a few of them, but makes me wonder how many are thinking it, but not saying it. Once you lose the locker room, it's time for you to go (if in fact he has). Like I said before, anything can happen, but check with me around 3 PM on Saturday.
