this past weekend. I may have mentioned that BOTH of our heating units went out Saturday. Our good friends and nieghbors invited us over for something warm and good to drink. This friend is my big time aggy friend. He's an aggy Trustee, former Ross Volunteer, president of 12 man etc etc etc ugh! Extremely connected, especially financially.

Anyway, he goated me into talking about Mack Brown and a potential new head coach. That's when he made the disturbing comment. He said there was no way Perry would allow Saban to Texas. Not with all the momentum A&M had gained the last year. He then said if Perry wants to run for POTUS and wants to keep aggy support in that run, he'll stop Texas from getting Saban. He said many of his aggy friends were discussing I and the guv has been put on notice.

What? I asked how Perry could possibly stop it. He was well aware of Powers tenuous position and he said Powers would have to decide on himself or Saban.....

Again, whaaaaat?

Now don't get me wrong, I personally don't think Perry has a leg to stand on and no way he uses this in his power play. He's not that stupid is he? Oh, wait. Never mind.

What this REALLY says to me is how aggy thinks about Perry as guv and his ability to affect UT. They see the clock running out and a potential total game changer in the new Head Coach.

I really didn't know how to respond to my host so I just told him that if he and Perry didn't want Saban to come to Texas, then he wasn't coming.

When elephants fight, the mice get trampled. It will be interesting to see if Perry tries a power play in the midst of a athletic dept in turmoil.

Stay patient my friends, there's a change a comin.

Bull Chit. Aggy being Aggy

LOL at Perry thinking he has a chance to win the Republican nomination in 2016, much less a general election.

And if he screwed around with Saban coming to Texas and it got out to the Texas BMD's that would be a much larger issue for his election that aggy BMD's. He needs the Texas guys just as much, if not more, than the aggy guys. Perry would be well advised to stick to the sidelines on this one if he wants any chance in 2016. He needs both sides of the issue to even have a snowballs chance.

So your aggy friend believes the biggest risk to Rick Perry becoming the leader of the free world is if Nick Saban coaches football in Austin, Tx. Some things only an aggy can dream up.

And yes, I believe most aggys choose most qualified individual to lead the nation based on the football coach at UT.

Your friend truly is full aggy.

I have to thank your aggy friend for some much needed comic relief. The mere thought that Perry thinks he has any chance to win anything at the national level is funny to top it off the fact that aggy thinks he needs them more that the UT BMD's is even funnier.

Yup. I don't really believe Perry would stick his nose in this business right now. I DO believe he would love to and would love to derail our plans to retake the state and reestablish UT as the premiere educational and athletic dept in Texas. I bet he's punching walls he can't accomplish that goal.

What his comments speak to me are that aggy may say they've moved on but their identity remains centered on their hate for UT above all else. They would rather get assaulted by Saban every year rather than see him at Texas. It also says to me that aggy had always seen Perry as guv as a way to do harm to UT rather than being the leader of this great state.

This was from a guy that was CEO of a Fortune 500 Company and well thought of in his industry for values and integrity. Again, it shows he would rather hate UT than love his pathetic institution.

I was told by an Aggie grad. Perry wants to be chancellor of a&m. He also said he does not like perry at all.

Perry should consider his laughable 2012 run as the reason he won't win, not Saban to Texas.

Rick Perry isnt going to be President of anything, Ive always voted for the guy and he lost that one this time around. He wont be getting it back.

In that case I suppose he'll make sure Bob McNair cannot hire Sumlin, which is ok by me.

It's true, it's true. Collie Station is now the center of the known universe. If you don't believe me just ask

aggy.

POCKEY- thanks for sharing. that is an interesting angle.
Agreed. Just goes to show you that there are so many moving parts to something that seems relatively simple.

Ricky Pee is an idiot. A couple of years ago when we had the Bastrop county fire in his speech he said " driving west to Bastrop" really looked like driving to a war zone. I yelled you must have took the aggie way around because Bastrop is east of Austin.

If Wallace Hall is a Perry guy and he is the one who went outside of the chain of command to contact Jimmy Sexton regarding Saban back in January, then how is this consistent with Perry purportedly not wanting Saban at UT?
