I spend a lot of time reading UT news and 99% of you are very reasonable and educated individuals so Im (cautiously) going to ask for some clarification and a new perspective...

I know all things race are touchy but I have a genuine question and I hope it's ok to get an answer (perspective) from genuine people which I believe you all are.

I'm Hispanic (grew up in Oak Cliff-Dallas) and I have an appreciation for my culture and it's history. I did serve in the Marine Corps which allowed me the experience to meet people from different nationalities but....

I simply don't understand this at all...

As a Hispanic I can have brown pride.

African Americans can have black pride.

A Native American can have pride.

Are white Americans people not allowed to have any pride in their race color publicly? 🤔

Denver unis that got me thinking: https://www.google.com/amp/www.denverstiffs.com/platform/amp/2016/10/21/13358494/denver-nuggets-white-pride-jerseys-2016?client=ms-android-sprint-us)

If you see a brown/black pride statements associated with a team for instance the browns or raiders it wouldn't be a big deal but ohh it can't be white?

I simply don't get it?

Whatever it is I hope we get over it someday, we all bleed red and end up dust at some point.

And if trouble ever came knocking we would do it together 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸.

Jmagana i agree,

Maybe because i am young and have lived in a racially integrated community i never thought it was a big deal but i do wonder the same thing at times. It honestly never bothered me though.

Being white and married to a dominican and having my first born due January, i guess i never really had a viewpoint that people are different because of race.

Favorite saying is "pride is a good thing but too much of it will kill a man"

If someone wants a reason to celebrate their heritage then im all for it however i am not one that will get bent out of shape because i cant. I dont ever want to offend someone.

Reading the article, the 'White Pride' jerseys have nothing to do with making a statement about race. Simply an alternate jersey color.

Now of course the ever growing hyper-sensitive nature of our society overreacts and forces a response and a retraction.

Personally, I'm a proud American, proud Texan, Proud husband and father, proud UT grad. Never really thought about being a Proud White guy.

Maybe I need a WLM t-shirt with 'Can't Dance' written on the back.

I look forward to the day when we can get over our skin color, something we had absolutely nothing to do with in the first place. How can you have pride in something you did nothing to achieve?

No, I don't have pride in being white. I would not have pride in being black, or brown, or any other color. My skin color is not something I look at as some sort of point of pride. I don't have pride in my hair, my ears, my elbows or my disappearing arse, either.

If we are to have "pride" (if we have to have that in the first place), why not sink that into something that requires something to be proud of? Such as character?

Beneath the skin are people. People can be bad, good, great, sorry and all points in between. And skin color has nothing to do with it.

Nothing to see here.  It's about snow.

Right now its fashionable to be on the "White Privileged" train.

If you are a white male christian.  Just turn yourself in to the nearest CNN or NBC station for reprogramming.

Just an example:

The lecture at the Norman, Okla., high school was intended to heal the racial divides, a student said.

The discussion’s premise: White people are racist.

All of them.
In the recording, the teacher asks: “Am I racist? And I say yeah. I don’t want to be. It’s not like I choose to be racist, but do I do things because of the way I was raised.â€

“To be white is to be racist, period,†the teacher says.
