Deal is not Dead

Keep telling yourself that and quit lying already. You are making the program look ridiculous. You werent in the board meetings nor were you in Sexton's office. quit making claims to which you no nothing about personally. Its really getting old.
How is he making "the program" look ridiculous? This is an Internet forum, not the evening news. And before you ridicule someone for "not being in the board meetings nor Sexton's office", were you there to prove he was wrong? No. So, this is just your opinion and you are upset, like the rest of us.

If you think there wasn't an offer to Saban, to become our next HC, you are fooling yourself. It got out early last year, that we approached Saban about becoming our next HC. He listened. If he hadn't listened last year, we wouldn't have approached him again this year. There was an offer. He declined. Move on.

And the next time you want to tell someone to stop talking about something they "no" nothing about, you need to back up your rebuttal with your own facts.

1. I don't think Saban to Texas was anywhere near the reality that many thought/posted/predicted/said. Just never made sense to me. 2. I don't think Mack will come back next season. Anybody expecting a decision or announcement last night was bound to be disappointed.

3. Last night went exactly like I thought it would (all about the team) although I would've liked to hear an announcement myself.

4. Too many are freaking out about some things that were said last night by Patterson/Powers etc (we look forward to working with Mack for many years to come etc etc). When Mack steps down (after the bowl game IMO) he'll still be involved with Texas to some degree. It would be too stupid too run him off completely.
Reading the banquet recap on various sites it seemed to be all about Mack Brown with some awards handed out to all the players.

Agree with the rest.

Dead on rebuttal there 96 except if you think this cat is actually upset like the rest of us you are sadly mistaken. The poster likes to tell us all how ridiculous and delusional we are yet has never, ever offered up one iota of proof to anything he/she claims. That the meeting between Hall and Hicks with Sexton has been documented and noted by Hall during his impeachment hearings is funny because this poster simply states were all stupid and silly. He/she has apparently annointed themselves as our board thought police as though the message boards dictate anything. If in fact, the message boards and Chip's report of Mack stepping down truly dictate our policy towards coaching and staffing changes in the Texas AD, we have a much, much worse situation on our hands. My guess is the poster you are soundly rebutting is enjoying a donut or 20 with his/her best buddy, Fatdog.

Bet you Mack will be back for one maybe two seasons. They will let him get the overall win record and then retire. Dont know why people are keeping on this "Mack wont be back" when everything says that he will. Its done and over. Time to recruit and hopefully right the ship.
For someone who I thought was correct on Saban, though I disagreed with the way you shared your opinion, you are exercising more cynicism than logic on Mack staying. He may stay. After the dumpster fire mess of this week I wouldn't bet on anything related to Belmont. However, Mack has been living on borrowed time for 3 years now. Ever since The debacle in Provo the sentiment has been overwhelming that he is done at the end of the year. This has been true at both the national and local media level. There has been nothing to indicate Mack is staying other than this torturous delay of any kind of statement one way or another. To argue otherwise is to abandon the logic you used with such fervor against those who bought into Saban coming.

Do you seriously think Mack can right the ship? Give me a freakin break. The last 4 years have been a joke and he can turn it around in the next couple of years? He wants the all time win record and will be here until he gets it. It's all about Mack. He is a hated man and UT would be stupid keeping him around even after he is no longer head coach. FUMB and I am so done with UT football. Rot in hell MB.

Just two days ago, we all knew mack wasn't going to announce his retirement at the banquet Friday night, all he did was deflect the questions, he never once said I will be the head coach in 2014. The latest on espn that mack will make a decision on his own time.

there cant be any deal with saban till mack steps down period, its against the law.

Saban is the sneakiest coach out there, especially after the way he left Miami.

my theory is mack steps down within a few days like he was suppose to do after the banquet so it could be about the kids, and then texas makes an 8 mill offer to saban what happens then is all speculation
Sorry...but this is the type of delusion that has made the Longhorn program the laughing stock of the nation right now. Please stop....don't stoke the flames with your uninformed opinion that some poster will run off and claim as fact on a dozen other boards.

Mack may come back but if you go off of yesterday it seems people went out of their way to not say he's coming back. Even at the Banquet Patterson nor Powers said anything about Mack as a coach next year - they totally avoided that word and only mentioned working with him in the future - which could easily be his ceremonial position he likely gets when he retires. No one would utter one word about Mack coaching next year including Mack himself to ESPN

That to me suggests this is far from over and decided. If it was there would have been no reason to avoid the subject and there are reports out there coaches nor players/recruits have been told anything about Mack staying as of last night. Seems they would have been told if that were the case

If the powers that be allow him back for the sole purpose of breaking DKR's then they can and should burn in hell.

It's true. We are looking pretty bad. Our entire athletic department is controlled by a handful of aged, prickly, egomaniacal billionaires who protect the job of their buddy who protects the financial security of his buddies (using our money). There is no accountability. All our major programs have been out of contention for several years yet are allowed to simply muddle along. And why? Because we recruit "good kids who graduate?" The whole imagery that is forced on everyone that "We're Texas" is delusional. What does that even mean anymore? We are mid-level conference performers in all sports? (dont mean to step on Volleyball's toes - yay them!). Our athletic department is bloated and inefficient. And it has been going on for years as no one over there notices or even cares. "We're a joke" seems a more accurate slogan.

Or our boosters pulled what Auburn did with Tubberville when they tried to get Petrino but failed. same thing.

Ok, I'll bite. 5 dollars says Mack is gone. Anymore than that and I have to get permission from my wife.

Seriously. It's time to stop being delusional. That's not happening.
